Female members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) hold their service pistols that are covered with tape during the sealing of the muzzles of firearms at the National Capital Region Police Office in Taguig, Metro Manila. I don't understand, why should that only be for the holidays?

I could speculate that is to prevent firing their weapon in the air as a celebratory gesture? In South America people set off fireworks for Christmas and New Years since it is Summer time.

I wish the Japanese Coast guards would do the same to the Chinese coral poachers that invades by the hundred to the Ogasawara archipelago. :(
