What are we looking at ? is it an infrared ? I cant see anything.

Obviously a manipulated photo so as to hide certain details while providing sufficient clarity for others to know what's being shown.

It's the front section of the FC-31 31003's fuselage - note the open canopy.

I'm not sure why the person who took that photo chose to alter it so greatly -- we already have clear pictures of FC-31 V2 s/n 31003.

I'm also cautious to derive too much from putting the photos of KLJ-7As with that photo to mean the aircraft will use KLJ-7A.... for all we know the guy's just going "this aircraft will use an AESA -- and here are some AESA mockup pictures".

Yeah, that's why it was more of an implication than a direct hint that we're used to receiving from these folks.

But I will say that it's one thing to post the FC-31 photo alongside a random smattering of AESA radars and another to do so with multiple photos of one specific radar system. And it's worth noting that the KLJ-7A isn't the only Chinese AESA radar in existence, so perhaps this is indeed some form of "clue" or "hint".

This is a topwar.ru article about weight and engine problems with j-31 (its in russian but use translate). Does anyone knows about these issues?

Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!

They're not specific issues so much as the general challenges of converting an aircraft for carrier use.
Though it's also a remarkably brief piece and its statements aren't specific enough for us to know what basis they're making them on, not to mention I'm not sure why they mention WS-15 in relation to FC-31... and the unfortunate use of "J-31".

So it all reads like a piece by someone who has no familiarity with the topic at all..
