The hope is that there would be realistic views and expectation from both side if technology transfers are desired. The FGFA basically reveals India wants a new aircraft different to the T-50 baseline which obviously not sit well with the Russians. It remains to be seen if India will respond to Russian invitation for Checkmate especially with AMCA in the pipeline.

AMCA should not impact what ever fighter Russia will offer. India indigenous Programmes can coexist with Russian system. you can already seen the result that Brahmos aerospace is now greatly expanded. while any French system are always limited.
do you think India can use Meteor on other platform beside Rafale? or integrate Astra into Rafale so easily. or putting non-French missiles on Scorpene subs.
There is S-70 and so many drones Russia developing that has no European counterparts and certainly not with transfer of technology and diversity of weapons.

Well Budget will.

That would take more into India's willingness to go through the effort. like i recalled at some point French do offer Kh-31 to be integrated to Rafale. I would say French are pretty flexible with their platform.

For meteor case tho.. since it's made by consortium (e.g the rocket motor for Meteor is built by Germans) There might be long bureaucracy on what can fire the missile.

India GDP is growing and it has the human capital to be integrated to rest of the world. so money should not be an issue when India retires older jets with non AESA radar and older engines.

thats the point. French are either too expensive, unable or not willing. and with increasing trade deficits (record high) we can assume that French are losing IP over there industrial chain.

see this one example of Safran. how long Europe can afford US resources? when NAFTA will bring more industrial chains inhouse.

The development and production of these compressors is located at the Milmort plant (Liege, Belgium)... except for the blades! Indeed, these are produced in Canada, Israel, France or even China (50% of production) and are essential for the compressors. In fact, depending on the model, between 500 and 600 blades are needed for each low-pressure compressor
About geopolitics, the blades are forged in titanium. This metal was imported from Russia, until the war in Ukraine. Indeed, with the embargo on Russia, Safran Aero Boosters turned to titanium suppliers in the United States.

The above article highlights RuGF's lack of modernization and how this may have been viewed by the Chinese, including citing (unlikely) intelligence reports where they mocked Russia's military capability in Ukraine. The article even mentions the joint exercises that the Chinese fought the Russians and how the Chinese defeated the Russians in that exercise.
