Footage of the combat operation of the Orlan-10 UAV was shown by the Russian Defense Ministry. The Orlan-10 UAV began to be delivered to the troops in 2010 and by now is the most massive UAV of the Russian army used in Ukraine. The Orlan-10 has a mass of 14 kg and is capable of carrying up to 4 high-explosive shells. In various configurations, UAVs can conduct surveillance in the optical and infrared range. Orlan‑10 is capable of automatically detecting the positions of switched-on GSM phones, VHF communication stations, operating radars. And the compact electronic warfare systems on board allow this device to jam GSM communications and disrupt the operation of GPS receivers.. One of the main features of the Orlan‑10 UAV is integration with the Msta ACS, it was these drones that provided laser illumination of targets for the Krasnopol corrected projectiles fired by the Msta‑S artillery installations. The device is collapsible and fits into a container. The UAV is equipped with a gasoline engine, with which it develops speeds up to 130-150 km / h. The duration of the flight is 15-16 hours . The launch of the UAV is carried out from the catapult installation. The flight takes place automatically according to a pre-programmed program or under the control of an operator. Landing is performed using a parachute and a balloon under the bottom. Flight range, 600 kilometers, range 120. The price of the Orlan-10 UAV is from 87,000 to 120,000 dollars.

Borisov: laser weapons that hit targets at a distance of 5 km began to enter the troops

MOSCOW, May 18. /TASS/. Laser weapons, hitting targets at a distance of 5 km, began to enter the troops. Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov announced this on Wednesday on Channel One.

"If Peresvet blinds, then the new generation of laser weapons already leads to physical damage to the object, that is, to thermal damage, burns it so that we do not spend expensive missiles, such as Pantsir and Tor. Now these systems are on the way , which at a distance of up to 5 km can absolutely freely shoot down various classes of drones. They are already starting to enter [the army], the first samples are already being used," he said.

looking forward. particularly interesting on what type of laser it will use.

Russia so far hasn't demonstrated solid state laser yet as far as i know. They rely on good ol Chemical laser.

That was supposed to come with what people now call the MiG-41 i.e. PAK DP project.

But I doubt it will happen. I have heard some people claim that the Zircon hypersonic cruise missile might have some kind of similar effect because of the plasma it will generate from friction by traveling at Mach 9 but this was never confirmed. As for the PAK DP chances are it will travel at Mach 3-4 at best so it won't be fast enough to generate that kind of effect.

Anti-Satellite weapons that could blind orbital satellites should be able to burn drones and light aircraft at a closer distance.

IF meteorit missile ever enter service, we may have the Plasma stealth. In shape of electron gun located within her exhaust or inlet. The Russians take note of US Kempster-Lacroix project and well instead of applying it to manned aircraft, they do it on missiles. That's the closest thing as it gets to the operational plasma stealth.
