MOSCOW, Feb 4 — RIA Novosti. The upgraded strategic bomber Tu-160M will be the world's first aircraft with return-launch missiles - they are able to intercept targets that are "behind its back", a source in the aircraft industry told RIA Novosti.
As reported, the first strategic bomber-missile carrier built from scratch

M made its debut 30-minute flight on January 12 this year. The new aircraft received upgraded engines, updated avionics and avionics, as well as new weapons control systems.

"The first newly manufactured Tu-160M has a rear-view radar station (radar), which will allow the aircraft to use so-called return-launch missiles for self-defense against air-to-air, surface-to-air missiles and fighters. Such air-to-air missiles according to the target designation of the tail radar of the bomber will hit targets in the rear hemisphere, that is, those located "behind" the Tu-160M, "the agency's interlocutor said.
The source added that "the use of rear-view radar on heavy bombers is most expedient, since these are low-maneuverable machines that simply may not have time to turn nose to the enemy."

On the basic version of the Tu-160, there is no tail radar. The interlocutor also clarified that the reverse launch missiles can hit targets and the anterior hemisphere. When targets are hit in the rear hemisphere, according to the target designation from the tail radar, they turn 180 degrees in flight.

", within the framework of the state contract with Tupolev, the design documentation for the Tu-160M was fully digitized in a short time, the technology of vacuum welding of titanium products was restored, the production of airframe units was resumed, and a new cooperation was formed.

I remember correctly getting in trouble with an admin on a different site for quoting a KRET official's EW statement for saying passive and active detection meaning rearward radar detection. If a fucking bomber designed for air to ground missions has this air to air missile capability i see why not for a multi-role aircraft like the su-57. Oh well the revelation on this is getting to bring interesting speculation on the avionics upgrade of the Su-57.

KAZAN, February 4. /TASS/. By the end of the second quarter of 2022, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation will receive the first Tu-160M missile carrier of new construction for subsequent state tests and putting into service. This was announced on Friday to journalists by the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov.
"I believe that the president's decision to resume production of the Tu-160 in a new look was absolutely timely. <... > We were able to implement this task in the shortest possible time. Because initially, the contract was supposed to be delivered at the end of 2023, and by the end of the second quarter we will transfer the machine to the Ministry of Defense for subsequent state tests and putting it into service," Manturov said.
He noted that the Tu-160M opens up prospects for the subsequent development of the new PAK DA project - a promising long-range aviation complex. "In the coming years, it should also complete preparations for the first flight and then go through all the stages of testing and launching mass production. Two aircraft will be produced in parallel: both the Tu-160M and the PAK DA," Manturov said.
As part of his visit to Tatarstan, Manturov visited the Kazan Aviation Plant, where he got acquainted with the progress of work on the program for the resumption of production of modernized Tu-160M missile carriers.

The Tu-160 is the largest and most powerful supersonic aircraft in the history of military aviation with variable wing geometry. The program of reproduction of Tu-160 aircraft in a modernized appearance of the Tu-160M was deployed by the decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2015.

"technological... equipped with newly developed instruments and systems for their testing under conditions of radiation and heavy particles."
...
Kosmos-2553 entered a 1,987 by 1,995-kilometer orbit with an inclination 67.08 degrees toward the Equator and an orbital period of 126.99 minutes.

Took good 8 years.

That altitue is full of particles, means good place to test the Russian radhard electronics.

Seems like the 2014 CIA funded maidan had its fruit : independent Russian military/space semiconductor manufacturing.

The AWACS A-100 aircraft performed a flight with the radar turned on

10.02.2022

On February 9, in Taganrog, as part of ongoing tests, the A-100 Premier radar patrol, guidance and control aircraft performed its first flight with the on-board radio-technical complex (BRTK) turned on. The tests confirmed the regular operation of special equipment, as well as aircraft on-board systems in conditions of high electromagnetic radiation. This was reported by the press service of the Rostec Group of Companies.

“During the flight, the aerodynamic characteristics of the aircraft, the performance of the avionics and parts of the target equipment of the BRTK were checked. Aircraft systems worked in accordance with the specified parameters and are ready for further types of tests, ”said the representative of Rostec.

“The flight took place in the normal mode. All systems and equipment worked correctly. The crew fully completed the flight task, having checked the stability and controllability of the aircraft in the given piloting modes, as well as the operation of the complex installed on the aircraft, ”said the crew commander, test pilot of the TANTK IM. G.M. Berieva, Honored Test Pilot First Class Sergey Parkhaev.
Preliminary flight tests of the A-100 aircraft began in February 2019. Previously, the A-100LL flying laboratory performed several flights as part of flight design tests. The Il-76MD-90A, mass-produced at the Ulyanovsk Aviastar-SP, became the platform for the new generation AWACS aviation complex. The development of the A-100 is carried out by specialists from the Vega concern of the Roselectronics holding and the TANTK named after A.I. G.M. Beriev. The aircraft is equipped with a fairing with an antenna system and special radio equipment. The A-100 can detect and track air and other targets, as well as participate in the control of fighter and attack aircraft when aiming at air, ground and sea targets.

According to the press service of Rostec, when creating radio equipment for the A-100, technical solutions based on modern electronic component base, high-performance computing tools, and the latest achievements of domestic radio electronics were used. This applies to both the means of obtaining information and the computer complex for its processing, as well as automated workplaces of operators.

“An important stage of testing the A-100, an aviation complex, which embodies the most advanced developments, has begun. During 2022, we plan to complete the cycle of preliminary flight tests and transfer the complex for state joint tests,” said Vladimir Verba, General Designer of the Vega Concern, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
