saying the Admiral Kasatonov (still don't know her pennant number; the Admiral Gorschkov has #471) should be commissioned this year etc.
OK 431 according to the most recent picture (and Russian wiki hehe):

Analysis : Russia’s first combat deployment of its aircraft carrier

Ahh this article is very well done and realistic with a very slight touch of humor.. One thing the article did not mention was logistics. The Russians have zero ability to rearm and refuel simultaneously at sea. Something the USN has perfected.

From the article...

COMBAT RADIUS
  • The ski-jump configuration will not permit take-off with a heavy combat load.
  • This won’t be a hindrance for CAP as the Su-33K can take off with 6-8 air-air missiles.
  • But it will limit the carriage of heavy air to ground weapons, which the Mig-29K would need for strike missions.
  • The MiG-29K’s ability to carry buddy refueling pods and refuel other aircraft mid-air will allow the CBG to greatly extend its combat radius.

Got a news flash for the person that wrote this article. Fuel weighs just as much if not more than ordnance. So my question is will the Mig-29 with buddy stores be shore based or will the Russians use tankers already in place in Syria? I can't imangine a Mig-29 fully loaded with fuel and a buddy store taking off from a ski ramp...I'll see if I can find a photo of that.

Ok This was tagged on to the end of the article and I found it humorous..

Reminds me of when I was aboard USS Hancock (CVA 19) a real aircraft carrier. That old girl just kept a-goin'!..no matter what and we did not have a fleet tug following us around.

Exact and your funny :) i like it much
Yes Fuel tanks 2 or 4 normaly for this missions are very heavy about 1.5 t each + refueling pod seems much...

Russian don't have refuelings aircrafts in Syria coz useless fighters based to only 300/400 km of their targets close.

For me STOBAR system allow a payload of about 2/3 of the max, saying for Su-33, Mig-29K which have a max payload of 6.5, 5.5 t about 4 t i can' t be exact ofc but all experts, observers say the weapons load for an aircraft used from a STOBAR is clearly more limited and only CATOBAR allow to an aircraft to be used with a full payload than from a land base and STOBAR can' t use AWACS aircraft important coz their radars are much more powerful than a AEW helo.

In this case 2 FTs for Mig-29K, USN Super Hornet for refueling have always 4 FTs.

Syria, the Russian Ka-52 will engage the Hermes missile

According to the Ministry of Defense Russian helicopters Kamov Ka-52K "Katran" found aboard the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov, currently under way in the Mediterranean have the new anti-tank missile at long range Hermes-A.

For Russian, Syria will test-size the new generation of missile and perfect before large-scale delivery to the Russian army. The new missile will be used primarily against hard in the hands of Islamist websites.

The Hermes-A missile:

The "Hermes-A" missile is a supersonic, twin-size, versatile modular guide designed by the KBP factory based in Tula. It is used for airborne platforms. The main feature of the missile is the possibility of a "horizontal" use. The self-guided head combined with infrared sensor and laser channel allows the missile to reach the armored vehicles of the enemy, even if they are outside the crew's field of view from the helicopter.

Hermes-A is designed to equip the rotary or fixed wing aircraft such as the Ka-52 and Su-25. The missile is guided through the area covered by an inertial navigation system (INS). Terminal guidance is provided by a semi-active laser system with an optronic providing target designation usually mounted on the aircraft. The Hermes-A has a maximum firing range of between 15 to 20 kilometers at an average speed of 500mps. The diameters of the missile are 170mm (booster) and 130mm (pimp). The pimp is carrying a load of 28 kg HE fragmentation that can defeat current and future tanks. Two Hermes-A missiles can be fired against two different targets simultaneously. The missile also has better resistance against counter-measures to the existing anti-tank missiles.

The Kamov Ka-52K "Katran"

The Kamov Ka-52K "Katran" is a navalized version of the Ka-52 "Alligator". The Ka-52K has blades and folding wings, a reinforced landing gear, an anti-corrosion treatment, as well as new capabilities such as anti-surface warfare. In armaments, this device will receive the missile Kh-35UV air-sea in addition to conventional weaponry Alligator. Both drivers have a unique ejection system that ejects first coaxial rotor then triggers the ejection of two seats, driver and gunner. Flight systems include inertial navigation system (INS), autopilot and head-up display (HUD). The sensors include an infrared pod (FLIR) and a terrain-following radar. The Ka-52 is equipped with a radar warning receiver coupled to an electronic warfare system. The Ka-52 is powered by two Klimov117VMA turbines, each providing 2,200 hp (1,660 kilowatts). The motors are placed on each side of the fuselage to reinforce the combat survivability. The helicopter also has an auxiliary power unit (APU) for autonomous operation. The helicopter with small wings each equipped with suspension rails, so that the cons-measures end to end wing. The Alligator can carry up to 12 anti-tank missiles "Vikhr" with a range of 8 km and the new missile Herme-A. The Ka-52 is armed with a gun 2A42 quick-firing 30mm unrestricted azimuth.

I saw just babbling by some manager from a shipyard
about "more than ten" to be built in total (in two shipyards):

go ahead, naysay it
I'm puzzled by the propulsion "solution"
...
now noticed in the press release by the shipyard

about the propulsion: kinda combination of two М90ФР (27500 hp gas turbines the Gorschkovs have/don't have :) with the electric drive using two 2200 hp electric motors ...
heck I've read they still don't have the testing facility for domestic M90FRs (and other turbines) ready, not to say the production line hahaha, and at the same time are fantasizing about the electric propulsion for Project 20386:

elsewhere this approach would be called "concurrency" hahaha

now I lost it: what's "Pr 22350 Arctic" Mon Dieu!
are you referring to the Admiral Gorschkov (417) currently in
