Except he did not state they were similarities between PAKFA and the SU-27. He is said it is noting similarities with the SU-35.
PAKFA has a different intake and it has even a patent in Russian for such new type of intake and the SU-27/Su-35 do not share the same intake with PAKFA, niether Su-35 uses LEVCONS, Su-35 and PAKFA only share electronics and a variant of the same engine, but this year the Type 30 engine is supposedly to be built and tested and by 2016 the PAKFA is supposed to fly a totally different engine much lighter, powerful and economical

PAKFA uses also an AESA, while Su-35 a PESA radar

I did not get into those specifics, or intend to.

I simply pointed out that you said DM was comparing the SU-27 to the PAKFA when he was actually comparing the SU-35 to the PAKFA.

F-15, please do not jump so hastily on what other people post and ty and "show" them that they are wrong. When folks are too eager to do that, they generally make mistakes of their own...and more often, put off other posters.

Sure there will be differences of opinion about what is accurate and what is not. Sure there will be some facts that are open for diiscussion. But we want everyone to openly participate in an environment where they are not put off, or somehow made to look foolish...even if there are some inaccuracies.

It is about the envrionment we try and maintain here. And environment which helps make SD the forum it is.

Just a word to the wise.

Thanks.

SIMILARITIES BETWEEN SU 35 AND PAK-FA
View attachment 9967

Right on there ole devil, goes right back to the Bratological statement that a Flanker is a Flanker, is a Flanker. The Flanker linage is pure through and though, and why not, Sukhoi has a good thing going with the basic Flanker platform, and it is an excellent platform to refine or expand upon.

Very nice pics.

Let's give some context to these photos so nobody get's the mistaken impression (since this thread is about Russian Flankers) these were Russian aircraft buzzing a US carrier.

Those pictures were from the visit to Malaysia in October 2012 by the USS George Washington carrier strike group, and the goodwill visit and exercises that accompanied it.

The four flight formation of two SU-30MKMs and two US Navy F/A-18E Super Hornets was arranged as a part of those exercises.

It was quite the photo Op.

The pics were posted by the US Navy in 2012 with this caption:

US Navy said:
SOUTH CHINA SEA (Oct. 15, 2012) Two F/A-18Es from the Royal Maces of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 27 fly in formation with two Sukhoi Su-30s from the Royal Malaysian air force above the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73). George Washington and embarked Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 5 provide a combat-ready force that protects and defends the collective maritime interest of the U.S. and its allies and partners in the Asia-Pacific region. One of SD's rules (which is easy to forget...but enforced none-the-less), is to post an explanation or caption of some type with the pictures we post. Please keep that in mind in the future.

Here's another picture from those exercises:

The detail on that very high res photo is great...and makes the markings very clear.

I do understand that and i appreciate it, what i mean is the PAKFA is indeed an aircraft with Flanker lineage, but it is not a Flanker, it has so many differences that it has patents issued by Sukhoi.

The T-50 follows Sukhoi main idea of a fighter with integral configuration like F-14 or F-16 in the US or MiG-29 and Su-27 in Russia.

But it is a completely different jet, it is like the marriage of YF-23 and Su-27. the love child of the Y-23 and Su-35, the YF-23 was also an aircraft with integral configuration

I think PAKFA is indeed a fighter based upon YF-23 using the Su-27 experience of Sukhoi, but PAKFA is no copycat, is a very original and innovative aircraft
