Are the Russians walking around naked now?
Watch the video and ready my other recent posts. Civilian consumption, according to the Russian newspaper in the Russian language, has been falling all sectors except those which are related to military. This video examines just one such sector, clothing. Watch recent videos of this journalist it read official data by the Russian government for understanding the big picture and macro trends pertaining to the Russia's declining economy. Good luck

I have read about this Tax policy regarding self employed. The original intent was to Tax this Beauty Saloons to oblivion. Since they want to discourage women from working. they will have less money or need for it.
Putin clearly said those who are looking for material well being Russia is not for them and this reason in every economic summit they want to insert a Royal and the direction of vacation to particular regions of Russia.

He discussed Russian state owned newspapers in the Russian language. But if you don't wanna admit that Russia's economy has been declining, that's your choice. Here's an extra enlightenment for you. By the way, this video perfectly shows what decline in civilian economy is, for example, society eats less.

There are challenges in the Russian economy just as there are challenges in every economy.

I am pretty sick and tired of hearing the same variation for every country though.

The Economist: The Chinese economy is doomed

Moscow Times: The Russian economy is doomed

SinoDefenceForum: The American economy is doomed

Even if Russia has a recession, chances are that it will recover and that it will not determine the outcome of this war.

Just like if America had a recession, that's unlikely to have a decisive effect in any WESTPAC conflict.

Or if China had a racession, it's unlikely to change PRC's stance towards Taiwan or affect its redlines.

I also doubt that any recession is going to "finish" an economy. Quite the contrary, as an American, a major recession, or even depression, may finally give the wake-up call/political ammunition to make the necessary economic/political changes and make the country better off overall.

The Russian economy is clearly in decline, but far from collapse.

However, as others have stated, the Russians have room for reform and growth. I would argue that the Russians will still face further economic decline before it starts to grow again, whether the war in Ukraine drags on or ends next year.

Room for improvement in the Russian economy:

Improve labor productivity, which is quite low;
Improve energy efficiency, which is half the level of major economies, especially after the end of the war;
Create a sustainable high-tech sector;
Create a manufacturing industry for civilian aircraft, pharmaceuticals, and microelectronics;
Improve the environment for venture capital and create a startup ecosystem, which is currently nonexistent;

All of this can be unlocked to enhance the engine of technological and entrepreneurial growth in Russia.

Not to mention that Russia, in the future, even without Europe as a market, will have the entire continent of Asia as the global economic, financial, and technological center.

I agree with you about decline, but unlock high tech sector is nearly impossible when china already in high tech sector. Can Russia compete with china when china will have thoriun reactor that led to self sufficient on energy in about next 20 years?

Russian wages are not stagnating so not sure where the stagnation coming. and the real wages with greater Soft power may be even higher than what they show in statistics. Just look at Dubai Airshow and how they are received there. It shows tremendous scientific power. there are many interviews even with Indian channels on youtube.
Russia leading in Nuclear reactor exports and nearly double its Military portfolio in next few years.
Russia is scientifically too advanced. Its waiting for industrial chain to re establish and than it will have markets created by Royal Kingdoms for them. and that nearly include all of the Globe. thats how Toyota become Toyota and Airbus become Airbus.
They are creating new education system and society from ground up for 21st century. even the Bachelor degree in top universities can become 6 or more years with much higher standards.

In 2023, the average age of motherhood for Russian women was 26.2 years, three years higher than in 1995, Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko announced during government hour in the State Duma.

"This creates risks for reproductive health and child development, which we take into account in our national healthcare policy," the minister noted in connection with the change in the indicator.
