Alexander Bukhvalov, JSC TVEL: The electric vehicle market is in a transitional stage

In parallel, we are working on the next generation of power plants - a 6-in-1 architecture with a lighter body, high power density and maximum integration of electronics. This solution is designed for 2029-2030, and it lays the foundation for a technological breakthrough in the industry.
If we talk about how the Atom differs from other electric vehicles, it is necessary to say that it was created by a team of domestic specialists taking into account the climatic features of Russia, using the most modern technologies. For example, among the innovations being implemented is a projection display with augmented reality on the windshield and advanced functionality of active driver assistance ADAS, including an automatic parking system. The power reserve will be up to 500 km.
— What other projects in the field of electric mobility is Rosatom involved in?

— For Rosatom, electric mobility is a comprehensive area that covers not only the development and production of batteries, but also participation in the creation of the electric vehicle itself, charging infrastructure, logistics, recycling and service support. We are building an ecosystem in which each element — from raw material extraction to the actual experience of the end user — is technologically and organizationally connected.

about Laser related to EUV. some words may not correctly translated.

The first Russian instrument-making forum "Priborium" was held in Novosibirsk. Omsk residents are among the participants

The main part of the lithograph is a super-precise laser with a minimum wavelength, and the Optical Systems company from Novosibirsk is ready to offer a domestic analogue instead of the equipment of the American monopoly company COHERENT.

"We are engaged in import substitution in the field of lasers for the production of microelectronics. Currently, such lasers are not produced in Russia, the only production facility available to us is in Minsk. Imagine that you are drawing on paper with a pen: the thinner the pen, the thinner the line. But what if you need to draw at the nanometer level? Our lasers allow for very precise processing of materials due to their narrow wavelength, while lasers with a longer wavelength burn through photomasks. Currently, the best lasers are produced by the American company Coherent, it is a monopolist on the market. We are testing two pre-production prototypes, and in the summer we are preparing to deliver the device in a finished industrial design. Our Chinese friends are working with us in parallel, but partners who have worked on their laser say that their current device is our product from 4-5 years ago. We are ahead ," said Vasily Smirnov , a representative of the company.

Printed circuit boards are another scarce product in microelectronics. Moreover, since this year, Russian printed circuit boards are a mandatory requirement for domestically produced equipment. The company "Electroconnect" - one of the largest enterprises producing printed circuit boards with capacities in Novosibirsk - presented its solution to the problem. Here, more than 30,000 square meters of printed circuit boards from 1 to 28 layers are produced per year.
Turning East Is Not an Option
The only way out for Russian microelectronics, as experts note, is domestic production of the electronic component base, which is important for high-performance equipment. And China is no help here - after all, such eastern import substitution is much more expensive both in money and time.

"Innovations are always needed, and this is the only way to achieve the technological leadership that we are talking about. Can our products be better than foreign ones? Yes, they can. We compete very well in science-intensive products, where there is not just hardware, but also operating systems and software. It is important for the end user that the product works. And in this regard, our Asian colleagues in devices that have software often underperform, while Russian developers produce a finished product. The Chinese are good at making simple and cheap things in bulk, in millions of copies. But cheap devices bought from the Chinese, which break down after six months, cost buyers much more," Ivan Lebedev emphasized.

The Central Bank of the Russian Federation has proposed outsourcing some Russian IT projects to India due to a shortage of developers in Russia

A representative of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation proposed outsourcing some Russian IT projects to India due to the shortage of qualified personnel and development teams in the Russian market. This proposal was made by Deputy Head of the Far Eastern Main Directorate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation Denis Davydov at the Financial Congress of the Bank of Russia.

"There is, of course, a lot of talk about the current significant shortage of personnel in various industries, especially about the shortage of engineering and technical specialists in Russia. But, for example, in India, the unemployment rate of graduates in technical universities has almost reached 30% in recent years. At the same time, the current wage differential, especially if we talk about purchasing power parity, encourages the idea that there could be some effects of cooperation here," Davydov said.

Davydov recalled that Russian companies have quite a lot of accumulated experience in interacting with other countries in the IT sphere. "This is an outsourcing mode, when a team of specialists and developers remains in the host country, and the results of the activity are actually controlled remotely," he explained.

"In principle, we can think about such a mixed interaction option, when the development effect is carried out externally, and then the developed drawings and models, moreover, with the conditions of digitalization in the modern standard, are transferred and embodied in metal here on site. From the point of view of the prospects of state regulation, it seems to me that here we could look at the idea of outsourcing, taking into account the fact that many of our industries are now actively digitalizing," Davydov said.

The representative of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation emphasized that this is a "debut idea that requires further development and a more attentive, careful look." According to Davydov, socio-cultural factors, and above all, the language factor, may become barriers to the implementation of such a proposal.

Director of the Research and Forecasting Department of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation Alexander Morozov, who moderated the session at the Bank of Russia Financial Congress, agreed that international outsourcing would help Russia attract the missing personnel to perform certain jobs.

"How to do this: through a subsidiary company, or in some other way - this needs to be discussed. It seems to me that this is still much easier than trying to transport specific personnel by plane, who are not adapted to life in Russian conditions and will feel uncomfortable, from very exotic countries. Therefore, I think this idea will be continued," Morozov explained.

According to Sber, the Indian IT outsourcing market continues to grow every year. The country has several leading companies that dominate this area, including Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys, HCL Technologies, Wipro, LTIMindtree and Tech Mahindra. The main areas of outsourcing work in India are software development and testing, technical support and maintenance.

According to estimates from the government, universities and businesses, the Russian IT industry lacks between 740,000 and 1 million employees, and by 2030 it will be necessary to train and prepare more than 2 million people.
My heartfelt condolences to those Russian engineers that'll deal with the repercussions.

I dont think its a big issue. Russia is extremely advanced in Software (Complete import substitution) and increasingly it will be in semiconductors from ground up. There is free flow of people between Mideast and Russia that gives it additional insights about every education and work culture of the world. This Telegram and Kaspersky operation in Mideast gave them further experience. Who else can afford the most expensive people in the world.
this another example.
The difference between North Koreans and Uzbek/Tajik is that North Koreans have push button phones while the others waste time during work hours on phone and North Koreans dont have social life so work long hours. overall quality is the same. this only specific to Moscow region. Koreans are also mastering construction technologies and they are on student visa not work visa so presumbly younger people. Acceleration of project most important.

Where migrants from Central Asia rent out one entrance, they rent out three: Koreans have opened a second front in Russia - a labor front
A special correspondent for KP spent a day with workers from the DPRK at a construction site in the Moscow region

New buildings in the near Moscow region, where Koreans are now working, seem smart. These are not frightening economy-class human anthills, but comfortable low-rise buildings, closer to elite. All nations, native and newcomers, participate in the construction. The biblical mixture of languages is not a hindrance, everyone somehow understands each other.

Most Koreans are invited to Russia not on work visas, but on student visas. And the Koreans really do study - they learn Russian, master new construction technologies

Power engineers sound the alarm: electricity consumption in Russia is off the charts
The Southern Unified Energy System sets a new record for electricity consumption
According to the company, on this day, in conditions of abnormally high temperatures, the maximum level of electrical power consumption was reached, amounting to 21,345 megawatts with an average air temperature of 27.5°C. This figure was 219 megawatts higher than the previous peak value recorded on July 17, 2024.

At the same time, the dispatcher noted that the average daily air temperature in the region for the two summer months of this year was almost two degrees lower than last year.

He recalled that the demand for electricity in the South of Russia breaks records every six months. "Last year there was a big record for the summer season. [..] We have gone through the autumn-winter period [of the current year], and in the autumn-winter period we had a higher peak in consumption than last summer. This year we are planning that there will be an even higher peak in consumption in this spring-summer period," he said.

Dagestan? Seriously? Why the Caspian Sea Has Become a Hit Among the Young

In particular, Dagestan, as part of this region, is rapidly gaining popularity among vacationers. And this is no longer just a fashion, but a clear trend, confirmed by the growth in demand and positive feedback from tourists.

Dagestan resorts are experiencing a real boom. Simple fact: according to the tour operator "Alean", sales of tours to the Caspian Sea this year have increased by 45% compared to 2024.

Other companies, such as Fun&Sun, also report a 15% increase in interest. These figures speak for themselves. If the Caspian Sea was previously perceived as an exotic destination, now it confidently competes with the Black Sea resorts.

What attracts tourists to the Caspian Sea?

When I first thought about going to the Caspian a few years ago, I wasn't sure about this choice. But every year I realize more and more: this region is not a temporary fad. It is an excellent alternative to the Black Sea, which will only gain popularity.

Why? First of all, the Black Sea coast gets very crowded during peak seasons. In 2024, Anapa experienced problems with water pollution, which also accelerates people's desire to look for new destinations.

Of course, the Caspian Sea cannot yet boast a level of service comparable to the large resorts of the Black Sea. But here you will not be met by crowds on the beaches and will not be forced to pay 15 thousand per night in a hotel. This is a place where simplicity, freshness and a sense of something real reign.

What does the future hold for us?

If the trend continues, then in 2026–2027 we can expect the emergence of large hotel chains, as well as active investments in infrastructure development.

Already now, on the tour market, you can see more and more offers with packages that include flights and transfers. The Caspian is clearly moving towards the status of a full-fledged tourist destination, not inferior to the Black Sea in popularity.

The Caspian coast in Dagestan is not just a place for a beach holiday, but a whole culture, new opportunities for travelers and a fresh look at tourism in Russia.

Observation of the Week: Russia Breaks Through with Transport Corridors to the North and South

June 23, 202509:00
While various agreements of intent were signed at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SIEF), which took place in St. Petersburg last week, including in the logistics sphere, we drew attention to Russia's breakthrough intentions in the development of transport corridors. Firstly, to make year-round transportation along the Northern Sea Route (in the plans). Secondly, to revive river transportation on the North-South transport corridor (also in the plans). And thirdly, to build the New Silk Road through the Siberian regions (in even more distant plans).

Year-round Northern Sea Route

As Rosatom's special representative for the Arctic, Vladimir Panov,
Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!
a special high-Arctic class fleet .

Naturally, they plan to implement the project not alone, but together with a Chinese company , which hopes that in this way it will be able to significantly reduce the delivery time of its goods to Europe.

A joint venture between Rosatom and the maritime operator New New Shipping has already been created and has allegedly already begun designing the future fleet.

The first container ship of a special Arctic class is promised to be launched no later than 2027. That is, in essence, if these plans are to be believed, then year-round transportation will begin on the Northern Sea Route as early as 2028 (well, at least in a limited mode).

True, at the moment the project participants have not yet decided which shipyard to build the fleet at , and because of this they cannot even calculate the cost of the work.

Plus, of course, in the question of timing, we also need to take into account the sanctions restrictions against Russia and the fact that foreign companies that closely cooperate with Russian colleagues can easily be suspected of helping to circumvent sanctions and also fall under restrictions...

Siberian Silk Road

Siberian regions such as Tuva, Khakassia and Krasnoyarsk Krai are counting on China agreeing to run the northern branch of its large-scale logistics project, the New Silk Road, through their territory .

To this end, they have already even
Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!
a memorandum of cooperation between themselves.

In principle, the project really does look promising: China will thus gain access to the Northern Sea Route , and the Northern Sea Route, as noted above, can significantly reduce the delivery time of goods to Europe (at the very least, there will be no need to go around the continent via the Suez Canal or get stuck on the busy BAM and Trans-Siberian Railway in Russia).

At the same time , the project also affects Mongolia . That is, it is expected that Chinese goods will go to the Northern Sea Route in transit through its territory.

But in order for such a northern branch of the New Silk Road to really happen, it is necessary, for example, to finally complete the railway line in Tuva “Kuragino-Kyzyl” (it was pompously built 1 km back in 2011, after which the work stopped and was never resumed).

And most importantly, it is necessary to develop and lay the North Siberian Railway , the possible length of which is estimated at 2 thousand km .

Needless to say, these works will clearly take more than a couple of years?..

North-South River Corridor

In Ulyanovsk they are planning to build a port logistics complex on the Volga . The corresponding agreement has already
Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!
.

And since the Volga flows into the Caspian Sea, the project will allow the inclusion of the Ulyanovsk Region and other regions of the Volga Federal District (VFD) in the North-South international transport corridor , one of the priorities for Russia in the context of sanctions.

And not just turn it on, but revive river transport along the route , thus removing some of the load from the railways, on the one hand, and on the other, making it possible to organize multimodal delivery of goods using rail and river transport (well, and with the connection of road transport, of course).

The only thing is that in order to implement the project it is necessary to maintain the Volga-Don Canal, which is tending to become shallow, in a normal state and to build a sufficient number of river fleets in all their diversity of vessels .

By the way, they haven't even thought about specifying when exactly the river hub in the Ulyanovsk region is planned to be launched...

This specifically related to North Sea Route tracking by radar satellite by this firm. Similar with Drone and Cargo drone spots for Arctic.

AFK Sistema to Invest in High-Precision Space Intelligence

Yevtushenkov's company plans to launch a high-precision group for monitoring the NSR
The publication was informed about the start of work on highly detailed satellites at the Innoprom-2025 exhibition in Yekaterinburg by the general director of Sputnix Vladislav Ivanenko and the general director of the group of companies Nikolay Pozhidaev. The radar devices are designed for round-the-clock monitoring of the Northern Sea Route, regardless of weather conditions, operating in orbit at an altitude of 500-600 kilometers.

"Radar satellites are designed to monitor the Northern Sea Route because they can observe the Earth both during the day and at night, in clouds and in snow. They do not depend on the weather," Ivanenko explained. The company does not plan to sell the devices themselves, but to provide space monitoring services based on its own developments.

According to Forbes, Sputniks already operates the Zorkiy-2M satellite, launched in June 2023 for remote sensing and automatic identification of vessels with a resolution of 2.75 meters per pixel. Radar-based services are planned to be launched from 2027, with the initial constellation consisting of seven radar devices.

"We are planning seven, but everything depends on demand, since without consumers these are quite significant investments," said Nikolai Pozhidaev, CEO of the Sputnix group of companies. According to his estimates, the total volume of necessary investments will exceed 20 billion rubles, part of which will be provided by AFK Sistema, although the management does not disclose specific amounts.

Among potential consumers of space data, the publication names Rosatom as the infrastructure operator of the NSR and federal government bodies. However, Sputnix is focused on international markets, claiming a third of the countries consuming space services. "There are three players - the United States, China and Russia. And we want to get our 30% of countries. In terms of money, this is 10% of the world market for remote sensing of the Earth - FM," Ivanenko said.

In the radar satellite segment, Sputniks will face competition from the private corporation Novy Kosmos, which is developing the Oculus radar apparatus with a similar resolution of 0.5 meters. Novy Kosmos CEO Anton Alekseev estimated the cost of the first satellite at 3.5 billion rubles with a launch in 2028.

First of all, corporations with at least 2,000 employees will be relocated.

President Vladimir Putin instructed the White House to submit proposals for the gradual relocation of state corporations and state companies and their subsidiaries from Moscow to the regions following the 2024 St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. He called for "paying special attention" to regions located in the Ural, Siberian and Far Eastern Federal Districts. Such a measure would help "strengthen the economic capabilities of the regions," he noted. The initial deadline for the execution of the order was set for October 1, 2024.

Russian Lithium: How Russia is Mastering the Market of the Future
Russia is not just developing battery production — it is seeking to control the entire chain: from extraction to disposal. And this is its key competitive advantage. reached a record level by the end of 2024. In 2025, domestic production will replace about 30% of the country's needs for such batteries.

Electric cars, drones, AI: who buys Russian lithium?

Demand for batteries in Russia is not limited to the automotive sector. Orders come from military equipment developers, logistics companies using drones, and medical equipment manufacturers. The biggest prospects are in urban electric transport: electric buses, car sharing cars, scooters, and smart taxis.

Today, domestic lithium-ion batteries can already be found in Moscow's electric buses, as well as on railway equipment operating in the Far North. Experts emphasize that climate adaptation is one of the strongest points of Russian batteries.

According to the minister, the Il-96-400M, along with the MS-21-310, SJ-100 and Tu-214, will provide a route network throughout the country and replace foreign analogues. The aircraft should support both the country's transport connectivity on passenger lines and cargo logistics.
Anton Alikhanov noted that the airliner will allow the development of Russian competencies in the creation of wide-body long-range aircraft for the further modernization of systems and on-board equipment, taking into account modern trends in the intellectualization of the aircraft, wider use and increase in the share of composite materials, and the creation of a reserve for the development of a new generation of wide-body aircraft.

In November 2023, the prototype of the long-range Il-96-400M aircraft made its first flight. However, despite this, the prospects for serial production of the Il-96-400M remain uncertain and cause skepticism among a number of experts. Vladivostok's population is approaching a million and exceeds official statistics

A study conducted using big data analysis showed that the real population of Vladivostok significantly exceeds official statistics. MTS Geoanalytics Project Manager Roman Buglak explained the methodology:
"We consider a person a resident of the city if he has spent 30 consecutive nights there. We also take into account 'residents' - people who have spent half the nights of the month in Vladivostok."
The data was collected by base stations within the city throughout the year. Interestingly, in the summer there is a relative "emptiness" of the city due to vacations and the departure of students, while the autumn months give a more accurate picture of the number of residents. In October 2024, 783 thousand people were recorded, which is more than the figure for October 2023 (769 thousand).
