China Mobile seems to be leading the effort in Quantum computing deployment in China

The mobile cloud/computing cloud conference was held 3 weeks ago.

At the time, I didn't actually look into all the participants. Now, it appears I missed something.
So aside from Origin Quantum, there are other players.

Q Boson got industrial investment from China Mobile in March and according to this, it's quantum computing power already used by China Mobile

now, it's capable of solving problems with 100 variables. Problems can be solved with just software, no need for hardware changes. This actually is a huge step toward commercialization of QC

China Mobile cloud is quite interesting. They declared back in November the intention to create a full stack quantum computing computational platform and have it fully ready for customer use by 2025. They will use both optical quantum computer (like the one Q Boson uses) and superconducting quantum computer (like the one Origin Quantum created). these are two of 5 mountains they plan. The other 3 mountains being QC simulation platform, qc algo experimental platform & QC security service

Q Boson discussed more here and also states when they signed up the different partners. China Mobile cloud only signed up this month. Looks like they already have big plans and China Mobile Cloud continues to expand

Alibaba appears to be working with CAS on this.

Huawei has their own QC simulation environment, but no mention of what the actual physical QC

If we go back to China Mobile cloud, they appear to be using all 3 types of QCs since they have signed on Origin Quantum, Q Boson & HY Qubits

Their roadmap is also interesting

By 2025, they will have fully commercialized quantum computing simulation. Also will have full commercialization of shared usage of real quantum computers services

It would seem to me that developing quantum computing usage rest not only on the hardware work, but also a lot of software developers need to learn how to use quantum computing library. I like the simulation idea, but still strange to not read more from Huawei & Alibaba on adopting these latest quantum computing firms that China Mobile will be using. Maybe they are keep their progress a secret and they have something better in store, who knows.

not heard of these guys before but they just came out with a 100 qubits quantum computer

Q Boson, eh. I had mentioned them in the forum almost a year ago when they were still in stealth mode. News on China's scientific and technological development.

You need to remember that the origin for a deep tech company are always either from a top university/national research lab or the founding team have one or more great researcher in that field.

There's the basic principle to gauge the potential capability of a deep tech company.

  • Cold atom
  • Spin
  • Topological materials
The first five are being widely pursued, whereas only CAS and Microsoft are pursuing topological quantum computation.

Beyond this there are few other niche technologies like nitrogen vacancy in diamond etc, but those approaches are more tilted toward quantum sensor instead of quantum computing.

So, it seems only the US and China are competing vigorously in Quantum computing .. competition is great .. perhaps the US has a slight edge now against China but not much

Other countries are far far behind the two giants in quantum computing
