This thread will be about the 2015 PRC Victory Parade.

The parade will include many different types of equipment, but this thread will be specially for the PLA equipment that the PRC displays at the gala.

One note of caution., Yes the parade celebrates the 70th year anniversary of victory in World War II.

Even so...

NO RANKER OR ATTACKS AGAINST PRESENT DAY JAPANESE WILL BE TOLERATED.

We have good, loyal SD forum members who are Japanese. Most of today's Japan was not alive before and during the war. That is now history and accusations, verbal attacks, demeaning, or anything like that will be deleted and posters warned and moderated.

So, celebrate that victory. It was well deserved and very much paid for...but do not take it out on today's Japanese.

Please post pictures of actual PLA preparations for the parade, and then from the many PLA photos from the parade and celebration events.

What about rank vitriol against Japanese war criminals 70 years ago?
The rules are pretty clear about that my friend.

Forum Rules said:
FORBIDDEN TOPICS:
No discussion of revenge against any country for past actions that are now historical. IE. Mao and Chinese Cultural Revolution, the Russian Stalinist era, the Japanese atrocities in World War II, etc.
We have learned over a ten year period that raising those old issues will only lead to emotion, argument, and ultimate flaming. SD is the quality that it is because we do not (among other things) allow those flame baiting, highly charged posts and discussions purchase here.

Celebrate...don't castigate.

This Thread is about the PRC/PLA 70 year celebration. Post pictures and news regarding planning. Post the pictures that will result.

There is NO NEED to interject comparisons to the US and its fight in World War II. We are not going there.

Also, there will be no more discussion about the former atrocities, etc., etc. SD Rules are clear on this and any more will lead to Warnings and Suspensions.

If you have a problem with moderation, follow the rules and do not respond on the forum. PM the moderator.

Let's get back on topic please. Id there was one type of thread where I thought we could avoid all of this it would have been these threads.

DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS MODERATION.

There's very little in terms of official announcement on what will be displayed in the parade, heck they haven't said when the parade will be held, so this thread has very little material to go by.

For most of us, we know only that the September 3rd will be a public holiday in China (again, whether that'd be an annual one from now on or just a special for this year, they didn't say).

So, my suggestion for this thread is to freeze it till late July, see if there'd be any news forthcoming by then. Otherwise it'd only get detracted again.

Well, thanks for the advise MwRYum. We may end up dong that if it continues to go off track.

But the similar thread for the aircraft, and the one for the PLAN vessels seems to be encouraging members to talk about it appropriately (thus far) and to look for things that may lead up to it.

So, since it is already mid-June, we'll see if we can keep it sane for a few more weeks...otherwise we will do just as you say.

Now officially on September 3 !

China unveils plans for Victory Day parade

China on Tuesday announced plans for this year's celebration of the 70th anniversary of the victory in World War II, and invited militaries of other countries to participate in a parade at Tian'anmen Square in Beijing on September 3.

"It's the first time that foreign troops have been invited to participate. We hope through this year's military parade, history and the future can be connected, China and the world can be connected and the message of peace and development can be sent,” said Qu Rui, deputy director of parade steering group office, at a press conference on Tuesday.

It will be China's first parade to mark the victory, with foreign troops and domestic model troops, including the Eighth Route Army, the New Forth Army and the Southern China guerrilla, participating in the parade for the first time, said Qu.

To show respect to those who participated and supported the war, the parade will also invite veterans and their descendants. Other Chinese contingent will be made up of soldiers selected from China’s seven military regions, navy, air force, the Second Artillery Force of the People’s Liberation Army and People’s Armed Police, Qu said, adding that a lot of the military equipment will also be displayed for the first time during the parade.

Qu said to save time and be efficient, all troops taking part in the parade will receive extensive training three months prior to the parade in the autumn, and they have been gathered at bases and some nearby airfields in Beijing for training.

Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, will attend the event and deliver a speech.

At the event, Xi will award medals to veterans and generals who participated in the war and family dependents of the deceased.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

Japan signed the formal surrender on September 2, 1945, and China celebrated its victory the following day. September 3 was declared Victory Day.

Related: Farce to fuss over China's military parade

"China will flex its military muscle again." Perhaps that's the main message many Western and Japanese media outlets will grab from the news that China may hold a grand military parade in September.

Such a fuss will only be a farce, even if the parade news is confirmed by the Chinese government. The unusual military parade, if it is held in September to mark the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese aggression, it will only be part of the series of activities to commemorate the World Anti-Fascist War.

China has invited foreign militaries to send contingents to take part in their parade.
It's a given that Russia will take part to repay China's participation in Russia's own parade.

Well it's official, the parade will be held on the September 3rd, though as of what will be on parade was, as expected, not said. That means, we'll have to wait till late August, when the rehersals move onto Beijing's Chang'an Avenue.

If they are to be rehearsing for the parade for three months prior then at this point they would already have been under way for several weeks. Somebody leak some photos please!
