I should've been more clear. I just saw the second picture and called out 116 right away, but yeah, the first picture looks like 115 and the one on the right in third picture is also 115. Makes me wonder why it is still sitting in the docks.

bottom two picture looks like it's when it's still in the yard, look closely at the VLS and you can see some sort of redness on it (the 115) which means they are still installing it or haven't paint it, whereas you look at the first picture and there's no redness... meaning that the last two pictures are old

PLA NORTH SEA FLEET ACCELERATES PREPARATION FOR RECEIVING NEW BATTLESHIPS

PLA North Sea Fleet has started preparation for receiving Type 051C DDGs. As part of the whole project, and in order to enhance the overall combat strength of the fleet, one of the two latest built 053H3 FFGs, No.528, has been stationed at Lushun Navy Base of North Sea Fleet. It is yet to be confirmed whether No.527 is also going to be deployed at the fleet.

Re: DDG 051C Thread

The SA-N-6 complex in the back looks pretty much the same as the Russian original:

I'm curious to know what those 2 roundish things behind the gun in front are. Based on its shape, it resembles additional rotating VLS cels? Also, I can't see the aft section too well, but in the model it does show a helicopter. I wonder if there's sufficient hanger space to store the helicopter with all those SA-N-6 missiles there?

Re: DDG 051C Thread

Pretty good shots.

Why only 8 YJ-83? The ASW power of this ship is no better than a frigate.

Note the Varyag is now all painted up in one of the pictures in the thread.

Re: DDG 051C Thread

You're right...though this is meant to be an AAW vessel, its technology and defense in terms of surface defense and ASW is significantly weak, compared to say the latest European and Japanese designs, that at least even though they are meant for long range AAW purposes, possess latest sonars and ASW/surface warfare technologies to be more multi-purpose in capability.

I don't think 051C will survive in a modern age...
