I hate to be a spoiler but I have to be a spoiler. The sub looks like an Akula's hull with the sail of a November class on top of it. I cannot take it seriously. For example, there is no reason why the sub would use Russian style limber holes unless the CG hull is copied off from an Akula.

"Heart" new impetus achievements dream
China Shipbuilding Heavy Industries Group of the Institute July 11 special engine application of a new fruit

Fuzhou red Miaoling landfill from the beginning this year, will have an "accident" windfall. Of course, the sky is not really Diaokanbing, but because more than a year, the landfill closure coverage and landfill gas power generation project was finally completed and are in operation, a year after delivery to the East China Power Grid of 12 million kwh Energy.
The project, the core of the construction of the special engine technology, is a 30 special engine research the history of China Shipbuilding Heavy Industries Group - July 11 subordinate units Institute of Technology Co., Ltd. Shanghai Jiyao power.

Special engine is a kind of external heating to gas at different temperatures so cyclical compression and expansion of the closed-cycle engine, developed by the Institute of July 11 this engine is a kind of new international standards of scientific research results, there is a difference driven 20 kilowatts and 100 kilowatt generators different models, we can use natural gas, diesel oil, solar energy, but also for the use of other solid fuels for power generation, pollution and gas emissions than the current market to the other engine little has reached the European emission standards in the field of civil and military applications can be massive.

At present, this engine has been successfully used in the navy new AIP submarines. Because it does not rely on the air promoting the power plant, substantially reduce the submarine noise, make long-term submarine underwater navigation, enhancing the invisibility of the submarine, thus greatly enhance the combat strength of the Chinese Navy.

Earlier this marine engine technology control of only a handful of countries now fully realize their own research and development, both at home and abroad were hailed as a strong "Chinese heart."

Special engine research, Ning Zhou of China Shipbuilding Heavy Industries Group Institute of R & D personnel on July 11 decades of painstaking work. In 1975, the China Ship Research Institute to set up special Diqiyiyi Engine Research Institute, June 1996, the establishment of special engine engineering research centers. After the "Eighth" and the "Ninth Five-Year", and 12 have been breakthroughs in key technologies. In 1998, they have successfully developed a completely independent intellectual property rights of China's first special engine prototype, they successfully developed a prototype project, the overall level has reached international advanced level, the technical part of a leading position.

Special engine in the course of the study, the Institute on July 11 this as an opportunity to cultivate a large number of technical backbone force. The project from the beginning, the team only 10 people, and now to the development of more than 100. Labor models have emerged in Shanghai, Shanghai Youth excellence in science and technology and other advanced person, it is this team, repeated as the PLA General Armament Department "pre-study advanced collectives," has been twice awarded the "Shanghai model collective" title.

In order to better promote the application of special engine, Engine 711, the special engineering research center on the overall restructuring of the establishment of the Shanghai Jiyao dynamic Technologies, Inc., and have built in Shanghai Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park in Pudong research and testing base. The recent completion of the Fuzhou-Miaoling-closure landfill cover and landfill gas power generation projects to enable this technology in the field of civilian application of more mature.

No way they're real, look like amature CG works to me. But on a side note, I heard from Chinese news that they've developed working AIP systems and have installed them in their subs already. Is it true? I thought they had some problems with the whole AIP thing.

I understand, what I said the last one in the links which show J-10 and war ship, not submarine.

Looks like an artist's idea of a Chinese Alfa with vertically launched missile pack to me. As for the smooth look that the Baltic countries including Germany are looking at, those subs are small and are pretty much stuck to littoral waters. We've however seen China operate Songs relatively far out at sea.

Okay, enough with those fan boy CGs, I thought the big news right now is that PLA have developed a working AIP system and according to the news have already being installed in their Yuan class and some newer Song class.

hmm, both Crobato and I have already posted that. If you bothered to actually go back and read up. There really is no evidence that it's been installed on newer Songs.

There is no evidence to say its not put on the Song too, thanks to China's lack of transparency. But logic does not seem to make the Song an AIP candidate.

Usually, technological advancements that may lead to the next class might be implemented on the last ships of the previous class and make them as a test bed. Or take an example of the previous class, and refit it into a test bed.

With the Yuan however, the first Yuan appeared right about the same time as the fifth Song appeared. And there seems to be around 14 to 16 Songs in all. So the first of the new class appeared even before the previous class reached the zenith of its production. So it makes more likely the first Yuan itself was the test bed, and if there was any technologies in testing leading to the Yuan, they would have been tested in the first early four Song boats.

The space requirements of AIP means that its not really easy to modify an existing boat for such, and that its a lot easier to make a new boat from scratch for this purpose. If there is a displacement change in the Songs during the course of its production, it can serve as a clue for an AIP change though its not necessarily direct proof of it. The change is however, more visibly seen for the Yuan vs. the Song.

Nice beautifully clear pics. But can't say much with the butt turned towards the camera and all covered up. Would have loved to verify the type of propeller used. The "elevators" are quite large. Its clear from the water line that the newer Yuans appear to have a higher displacement from the previous original Yuan. Nice to verify the rear hatch location.

Re: PLAN submarines Thread II

right, and if we look at previous pictures of song or Yuan getting launched like the following attached photos.
looks like this one is a lot rounder and generally just larger. The new hump on this modified Yuan makes the entire submarine looks quite odd. And even the sail on the new Yuan looks wider.
