PLAN invited to participate in RIMPAC for first the time (2014)

I used to do running so I had a look at

the current minimum Navy Physical Screening Test Run requirements (the last row in the table at the bottom of that document)

which at first glance looked soft (for example, corresponding roughly to 13 minutes for three kilometers) but then I realized the candidates would first take a swim followed by three workouts and would run afterwards ... which is tough, I guess :)

The physical test immediately drops roughly 50% of the candidates.

SEALs is higher still.. Only 20% make it through BUDS.

That is some rough stuff!

Wow.. that's great. This is a real deployment.. I declare they will have fair winds and following seas.

Been following the PLAN in this RIMPAC I remember when they first got the invite and I said it will be good for PLAN and it has been I bet they have learnt a lot and mean a lot!!

Send the Peace Ark to West Africa to deal with the ebola epidemic. It's good to have a top-tier hospital ship there, plus PLAN medical personnel could gain valuable experience on dealing with deadly viruses.

I wouldn't recommend it if it does not have a grade four(BSL-4) biological containment unit built in.
