PLA Strategy in a Taiwan Contingency

they don't have a choice now thanks to Russia and the 300 new silos finishing construction. They're likely to be filled with a backlog of missiles, I'd guess maybe ~40-50 DF-41s currently held in reserve, with ~20-30 being added every year.

the other thing is to learn from Russia - prior to a major conflict, conduct strategic forces exercises to show resolve.
Maybe now that Russia desperate and cash strapped it would be willing to sell some of its nukes to China, maybe not the entire nuke but perhaps sell the refined plutonium to help China speed up the process of cranking out new nukes like dumplings
10000 for the win

I doubt China needs to buy nukes, and as for actual number of nukes that China possess, I think it must have surpassed the 1k mark.

Although they haven't been very public about it, and I think they should actually show the west (or well US) that they do have a lot of nukes, a lot more than the 350 that the US think (or well puts in their public reports).

looking at how Russia has yet to overwhelm Ukraine definitely left me a new impression of the currently capabilities of the Russian army as a whole. It is poor showing of a supposed "lighting strike" aimed at "disabling" the Ukrainian military or "denazi" the Ukrainian government.

pretty sure the key take away for PLA is the utmost importance of EW and precision strike. I'm having doubt on how fast, accurate and effective PLARF/PLAAF/PLAN can actually execute on these two aspects, under their current capabilities.

For tw, take away is simple, hold on as long as you can and mobilize everyone that's willing to fight, and wait for a major US intervention to drag China into a war of attrition in the westpac.
Good luck with that strategy. Russian approach or strategy in Ukraine is unknown to us and what we are doing thus far is trying to deduce the operations based on scant and accurate information. But the fact that they are already at the outskirts of Kiev in just 3 days is mighty impressive and that's with Russia "allegedly not using all the tools at it's disposal" for strategic reasons a.k.a. Phase IV operations.

What is China doing about creating social media/messaging/video apps that both domestic and international users can use? I think its time to remove the great internet firewall and let the chinese voices be heard in the internet. Indian Jay hind crowd doing really well for pro India & anti China/pakistan topics discussion in internet.

Think like white people. Republicans came up with brand new social media Truth app just because most social media censored right wing topics. If goggle bans certain chinese media app from appstore, then Chinese phone should come up with preinstalled chinese social media apps. There are so many nations like Iran, Venezuela, Russia, Bolivia, Syria, African nations etc who would prefer Chinese social media than western. China must give social media alternatives to western one.

That would just create more political bubbles.

I think we can say with reasonable certainty that a 2 week campaign is the minimum baseline

Also have to keep in mine Ukraine is larger than France by land mass. They are the 2nd largest in Europe with Russia being 1st. Whereas Taiwan is slightly less then 6% the size of Ukraine and they are also surrounded by water.

What do you mean by that ? I think most Chinese people have firm political believes and would prefer Chinese platforms than western ones. Isolating Chinese from world isn’t a good solution forever. You can’t keep your Children forever at home ,fearing big bad world. If we leave out western audience , there is more than 3 billion global south users for Chinese social media to target to and influence positively regarding China issues.

The GFW works as barriers to entry in certain sectors for foreign companies. It also makes surveillance and censorship easier. CPC still does not know how to fight a PR war on the world stage. So there are political and monetary incentives to keep it.
