Allegedly a screen capture of an acquisition or tender document posted on the official Chinese military acquisition website. It lists tracer rounds, blanks, and other equipment for a 7.62mm-caliber rifle. I have not been able to locate the document; simply too many tenders posted on the website, and the search function is completely useless. The original poster of this image thinks that at least one new service firearm will be chambered for 7.62mm round.

  • 7.62mm tracer
  • 7.62mm blank for general-purpose machine gun, blank-firing adapter
  • 7.62mm machine gun carrying equipment

The PLA armored forces still Use 7.62x54 for coaxial and Commander machine guns.

Doesn't seem to be vehicle mounted though.

It’s not unheard of to supply an ability to remove a Vehicle mounted MG for carry in an emergency. Like the vehicle being killed and the crew bailing out.
Which could be the meaning of the “Machine gun carry equipment.”

It said "carrying kit for 7.62mm MG" and above that said "blanks and blank adaptors for 7.62mm GPMG".

Also, 7.62mm MG is used as coaxial MG on tanks, tank commander's MG is 12.7mm.

Now, we've no information as to whether they've retired their Type 67-2 GPMG, eventhough we hardly see one of those these days.
