Are there aftermarket options of minimising the vertical distance between the optics and the barrel? For example, having the charging bolt horizontal so you can make the top rail lower like the Norinco type 97? Is it not that important to begin with?

I’m just wondering how essential having a carrying handle is in this day and age. I would guess the average PLA infantry wouldn’t have much in terms of modifications. But for their SOF’s and CTU’s who I would assume are the main target of these mods, would they not have adaptive slings that would make carry handles rather useless?

I assume the PLA agree with your assessment as well seeing how the new QBZ 191 doesn't have a carrying handle and in its place are some nice slings.

Notice in one of the boxes, there is a container/sleeve labeled "QSP10". I wonder what that might be. It looks cylindrical. It could contain a silencer, maybe?

Mystery solved. QSP10 is a tactical net pistol. It casts nets.
