Germany did the same with 5.56x45mm mgs on the Puma IFV. It’s an interesting choice but are they going to rearm their tanks with it??
not sure but I think it is unlikely, they already have thousands of tanks armed with the 7.62 and perhaps millions of rounds stored for it.
Maybe this new gun will be for whatever light or airborne IFV in the future.

It's been used as a coax on IFVs and MBTs for a while now

Every source I have ever seen lists the coax of they ZTZ99 series as a 7.62 mg same for the ZTZ96 series and the IFV types. So this is the first I have heard of this.

The previous post and this post shows the screen shots of a short video.

Here is the link to the video

It shows 3 guns.

The first seems like a 50 cal semi-auto sniper rifle, I can't tell if it is a QBU10 or not.

The second is a 7.62x51mm mini gun, at least that is what the host of the TV show says.

The third is a three-barreled rotary machine gun. Some people say it fires 14.5mm, and it is intended for Z20. I'm not really sure, maybe it is 14.5mm, maybe it shoots 12.7x108mm
