I think the author is confusing some small arms. As far as I know, the standard issue variant of the assault rifle is the QBZ-191 while the marskman version is the QBU-191.
QBZ-192 is the carbine variant.
QBU-191 is the DMR.
QBU-201 is a different family, it’s a bolt action anti-materiel rifle.

that is a very robust loadout. what is his source?

also wondering how UAV fits into this picture now. perhaps turn the HMG into UAV.

These are very pleasant graphs but how did they come up with single man served 12.7mm HMG, mortars and a weapons squad in platoons...
PLA TO&E is Indeed classified but company and platoon structures presented don't make any sense even for hypothetical world building.
The squad organization is close to observations from video clips tho.

PLA light HMG QJZ 171 is rather infamous for being so light that it is capable of being single manned
weighs about the same as an FN MAG or M240 according to wikipedia
pictures you can find online often have a single man firing it
so the graphic is reasonable

Not sure about recently but PLA used to uses its machine guns different from the US. The magazine size are smaller drums rather than linked chains and the focus is on mobility and frequent re-positioning rather than a fire support point. Machine-gunners are offensive rather than defensive, being at the front of an offense and also the last to cover for retreat.

The US has their more disposable grunts in front while more valuables like machinegunners and snipers positioned more rear. The Chinese you will find their 'Rambos' coming up to you first.

that is not true, the machine gunners are positioned on the flank for enfilade fire. section LMG will move with the section. platoon level and above use hire MGs that will generally occupy a fire base and cover maneuvering elements. there is not much difference in that regard anywhere in the world.
