China Fires Warning Shots at Japanese Warship Due to Chart Error

BS excuse for an aggresive venture to test Chinese response or to spy on China.

China's territorial sea is 12 nm or 22.224 km. At this distance you can use naked eyes to spot land mass, even at 30km distance you can see hills and mountain clearly. And at this distance, a captain looking at the chart and not noting the absence of line separating international water and territorial water is not fit to command a ship.

There is unlikely to be a mistake especially for Japan. There would have been plenty of verbal warnings, followed by aggressive maneuvering from Chinese ships, before things escalated into warning shots.

Yes. But the Japanese radio was unresponsive. They didn’t stop until crew manning the ship disobeyed orders from the Captain, who should’ve received court martial instead of just a simple firing.

Never understood the reasoning for this captain to go rogue. Was she a regular japanese fascist who wants to see the world burn or just did too much drug that day? We may never know. And of course the comments are all japanese calling for attacking PLAN ships. I learned japanese for gundam, not to know the average japanese people are all crazy stupid fascists.....

Orca speculated that she might be a member of a doomsday cult. Don’t know if he was being facetious.

And of course the comments are all japanese calling for attacking PLAN ships.

Imagine sailing a major warship, intruding into the territorial waters of another sovereign country - A nuclear-armed one at that - And choose to go gun blazing at any law enforcement or military ships from said sovereign country that are heading to chase it out instead of just immediately exit said territorial waters.

Honestly, China might as well just detonate a nuke some distance away (but not too far) from that intruding JMSDF DD like what the North Koreans did in the Steel Rain 1 movie. The detonation shockwave would've sweep that DD aside, and Tokyo would've shut up for good.

That second 'warning shot' shouldn't have been a warning shot. One warning was enough.
No thanks. That's on par with the Japanese crazies calling for attacking the PLAN ships that went in to warn the ship.

This is not how things work in real life, or SHOULD EVER work in any competent and/or professional navy.

ps: I don't understand why we are still talking now in a news thread about something that happened last year and has been thoroughly discussed already?

No, it's not "no par". A warning shot is already a last resort when all attempts have been exhausted to communicate compliance which is met with non-acknowledgement and/or refusal, by which point direct fire would be warranted under maritime rules of engagement.

What's crazy is yolo-ing into another country's territorial waters, deliberately (what's JMSDF doing off the coast of Zhejiang?), then feinting ignorance by blaming it on "operational error", and expecting no serious consequences as a result.

Any competent and/or professional navy would follow the RoE to a tee. The fact the JMSDF ship got to sail back unharmed after the second last warning was due to the PLAN being competent and/or professional on the first shot, and lenient on the second shot.
