PLA air operations in westpac region

In order to separate these operations from the regular PLAAF Breaking News (including articles with Pictures or videos) thread I opened a new one for those who are interested in such missions (like me ;) )

So please continue here:

I fear this thread will attract fanboys and their endless war talk and political discussions, which will infect the rest of our flagship forums. It's already beginning to happen (see the post above). :(

The interest on this topic is likely very low to non-existent. There's only one user (escobar) who posts Twitter updates on this topic. He's already been asked to stop, so I wonder if this thread is necessary at all, considering its obvious potential for attracting chest-thumping fanboys.

The flagship forums have been relatively free of political discussions and fanboys in the past month, thanks to timely moderator interventions. I just hate to see the peace and quiet being interrupted.

Or am I being pessimistic and paranoid?

Anyway, just my two cents. Cheers.

Then I will put out my hammer!

and at least I am quite interested in these news since they give quite at least a bit of an understanding on how they fly, how often and with what escorts.

Fair enough, but promise me you will use the ban hammer liberally on any hapless fanboy who stumbles on this thread. ;)

Mainland planes used to skirt around the ADIZ as recently as the following day after Trump's first phone call with TIW, to go through Bashi and beyond. Not so much over the last couple of years. It saved fuels for mainland planes, a lot, and Taiwan had to scramble their jets, wasting their few and precious defense money on those trips. So one stone and two birds for mainland going straight to Bashi. According to Taiwan MoD, mainland has been flying every day through ADIZ since Jan 2 this year. Welcome to the brave new world.
