It was said in one of the trio talk show that PAF was so traumatized by J-16 that acquisition of J-10C was delayed. Only to proceed after assurance from PLAAF that Su-30MKI is no J-16.
I'm out of the loop, what is the connection with the J16 and the Su-30MKI, and what did that have to do with the purchase of the J10?

Superficially the J-16 is a twin seater flanker like the MKI even though the innards are completely different. If you get dominated by the J-16 you might think that the J-10 is not effective against MKI.

I think the timeline was after 2019, where India is pending delivery of Rafale, PAF starting to eye J-10C as a counter to Rafale. They did a Shaheen exercise with PLAAF, and their pilots probably flying J-10s together with JF-17 were pitted against J-16 of the PLAAF and PAF got floored. The result was so one sided (type of engagement wasn't mentioned but i suspect BVR) PAF military planner starts to question if J-10C might even survive Su-30MKI along with its future upgrade. Acquisition of J-10C was delayed.

So, during that exercise J16 was far more superior to J10C, I assumed despite its large size and the famous huge radar returns of early Russian Flankers, J16 was able to see first and shoot first.

IMO, larger and more powerful radar on J16 thus longer range of detection, and also application of RAM material on critical parts of the aircraft surface enable its see first and shoot first in the encounter against J10C during that exercise.

J-10Cs had difficulty overcoming jamming conducted by the J-16s. If regular J-16s possess such impressive jamming capabilities, then imagine what the J-16D would be capable of.

Don’t forget AAM load, which flankers traditionally have had as an advantage over the J-10. When jamming is employed over BVR range a lot of the missiles end up missing the target. Whichever has more sticks has the advantage.

Yup! In 2017 or 2018 there was a CCTV 7 video on a J-8 pilot that stated even though he was locked on multiple times by Pakistan Mirage in a previous Shaheen exercise, he worked hard and improved his tactics through hard work and persevered against PAF in that year’s exercise. They didn’t reveal which aircraft PAF used but it is widely speculated that it was against JF-17.
I'm not familiar with the Chinese side of social media, but I would be interested to read such articles, especially those involving PAF, can you please point me to the right direction
