The Royal Saudi Navy (RSNF) decided to introduce submarines for underwater surveillance and response to warships in the Persian Gulf and the Red Sea. Hanwha Ocean was honored for its submarine construction technology by signing a contract with the Defense Acquisition Program Administration to build the third ship, the 3,600-ton "Jang Bogo Ⅲ Batch 2" submarine, last December.
