The arrival of Rafales in the South Asia requires a response, and while the avionics and missiles systems of the JF17 Block III will be on par with the Rafale, the JF17 Block III cannot carry sufficent qualities of them in a Air-to-Air role to counter the Rafale fully, so a larger platform is required.

36 IAF Rafales vs over 100 JF-17s (all be it not all of them are in Block 3 configuration) the PAF currently have, which might I also add are less costly, cheaper to operate than the Rafale, and are locally produced... Just sayin strength in numbers.

The J-10 might be a larger and more advanced platform than the JF-17, but they're still too similar in capability, Pakistan is better off stocking up on Block 3s while waiting to see what is to come of the FC-31.

Possible Block 3 production issues? I don't see why else Pakistan would want to buy such a similar plane

That's the general perception but despite of all logical aspects of JF17 BLK2/3 in comparison to J10C, the news are keep popping out every other month... Remember, the development of BLK3 was mainly kept in mind the Rafale in IAF....

No, the delay mainly due to the integration of new engine (RD - 93MA)....

And what those integration issues might be... plz care to elaborate or any proof or source for that claim? @timepass

Its not a rocket science, new power plant needs lots of testing on ground and in flight plus to elaborate how airframe is responding etc etc etc....

Yes, and always the hype is getting more ecstatic as before and then again ... NOTHING happens.

IMO we should wait, calm down and relax. Even if I agree with you that the rumours - including from reliable poster - are popping up more often than before, this was already claimed so often and nothing happened. I remember some quite harsh discussions at a certain forum where some claimed "it will be unveiled within days, if not even hours" ... "it has been spotted already" and most of all these rumours were ranging from such hilarious ideas like J-15s, J-16s, J-20, and even €Fs ... and surely most of all the super-duper striker JH-7A.

Again, as long as there is not a clear proof like an image or an official statement by either a reliable Chinese or Pakistani site, I take those claims as reliable as Indian claims, the Tejas Mk.2 will fly in 2023. ;)

And concerning the RD-93MA ... here I would be cautious too.
