Does this count as Military news?
PAC-kamra is gonna do maint for South Africa C130's?

' engine overhaul'
Hmm they can do that????

Yes, Pakistan does have the capability to perform both engine and airframe overhauls for C-130 aircraft. The Pakistan Air Force’s No. 130 Air Engineering Depot (130th AED), located at PAF Base Nur Khan in Rawalpindi, specializes in this work. It has the capacity to overhaul approximately six C-130s per year and has successfully worked on over 62 aircraft, including those from Nigeria and Sri Lanka. A significant milestone was also achieved with the successful indigenous overhaul of 50 C-130s.

In addition, the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) in Kamra has demonstrated remarkable technical capability across advanced platforms. One notable example is the successful rebuild of two Saab 2000-based Erieye AEW&C aircraft that were severely damaged during a terror attack. These airframes had been declared beyond economical repair by Saab itself, yet PAC Kamra managed to restore them to operational status, a major achievement in indigenous aerospace repair and recovery.

Together, the PAF and PAC have developed a credible and increasingly self-reliant capability for maintaining, overhauling, and even restoring complex military aircraft platforms.

There is supposedly an agreement between Russia and China where the Chinese cannot export aircraft based on the Flanker.

If this is such a big deal the jamming pods can likely be fitted to some other aircraft.

Indeed, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has procured a pair of Bombardier Global 6000 aircraft intended for the SOJ role. One of these aircraft is currently being converted in Turkey, with a broader plan to establish a dedicated SOJ squadron comprising a total of four aircraft.

In addition, the PAF operates a specialized ECM/ESM squadron known as the "Blinders," which includes 6 to 8 aircraft based on the DA-20 platform. This unit has proven crucial in key operations such as Swift Retort and Bunyan Al Marsoos, where it provided vital electronic support that enabled precise targeting and engagement, contributing directly to mission success and confirmed kills.

Problem is all our other fighters are single engined and most likely they do not have the internal space and power to carry and operate the EW equipment.

As far as HAVA-SOJ are concerned I think the original tweet was suggesting that PAF is interested in an EW fighter for SEAD/DEAD, EW, ECM/ESM. The 6000s aren't going to work for that and there could be serious reservations from both Turkey and China about integrating their EW gear onto a single jet.

The original tweet suggesting that the Pakistan to acquire the J-16D for SEAD/DEAD missions remains unverified and holds little weight since it doesn’t fully align with operational realities. Therefore, there’s no need to speculate based on a random tweet.

Additionally, I’m not sure how you inferred from my post that Pakistan plans to integrate Chinese EW gear on upcoming SOJ units, please reread my post.

Moreover, Pakistan has a proven history of integrating systems from various origins. Consequently, the upcoming SOJ units will be integrated accordingly within an indigenously developed cyber-networking framework, utilizing advanced Link 16 and Link 17 capabilities to ensure seamless communication and operational efficiency.

I think now, after Chinese weapons proved themselves, you will see Pakistan move to them in general even faster than what was already happening before.

Pakistan should focus on either developing its own systems and modifications or cooperation with the Chinese MIC to develop systems which suit their needs.

Pakistan only has 1 Bombardier Global 6000 undergoing conversion, and 2 DA-20s acquired in 1986, possibly an additional one acquired in 2008 which is unclear. Not sure where you got this figure of 8 from...

I believe there’s been a misunderstanding. What I mentioned in my previous message in that Pakistan currently has one Bombardier Global 6000 undergoing conversion, with clear indications of intent to induct additional units not that only a single platform is involved overall. So, I'm curious how you arrived at the conclusion that there's just one in the program.

Regarding the DA-20s, it’s worth emphasizing that the Blinders Squadron is among the most classified and operationally discreet units within the Pakistan Air Force. Public disclosures about its fleet and mission sets are exceptionally rare. However, multiple credible sources suggest that between 3 to 4 additional aircraft were acquired in the mid-2010s and subsequently converted into ECM/ESM platforms at Kamra. The original three units are also believed to have received Mid-Life Upgrades, though specific details remain unavailable which is consistent with the squadron’s highly compartmentalized nature.
