I was horrified by the news. The Chinese government should ask for a huge favor of the Pakistani government and put a stop to the shipment. The US/UK/Poland plan is to keep on supplying Ukraine with ever increasing amounts of weapons/mercenaries/aid to drag the war on for years and bleed Russia. The Russian state could collapse after years of being weakened by war and several rounds of conscription call ups. If a pro-Western government emerges in Moscow the aftermath, we are in serious trouble. The Quad plus Russia. I don't even want to think about such a strategic disaster but the planned Pakistani shipment to Ukraine forces us to confront worst case scenarios and intervene for our own sake. Chinese diplomacy and military contacts must communicate to Pakistani counterparts the gravity of worst case scenarios for Chinese security and get the Pakistani government to stop this.

Russia is India's biggest arms supplier isn't it? What's a few containers of ammos gonna do in comparison?

There is a shortage of artillery in Ukraine. The shipment will immediately go to the frontlines and kill Russian soldiers. I do not think it will be the last shipment from Pakistan to Ukraine. This is a horrible development for two reasons.

1) The biggest one is as stated above, the artillery will be employed to immediately kill scores of Russian troops.
2) Navy Secretary Warns: If Defense Industry Can’t Boost Production, Arming Both Ukraine and the US May Become ‘Challenging’

If Pakistan does not fill in the shortage, the US will be forced to dig even deeper from its stockpile. With Pakistan's help, US averts degrading readiness in ammunition stockpiles.

We absolutely can not stand on the sidelines and watch our ally get hammered at best and collapse at worst. If we do very little in their most desperate hour of need, we will be remembered for a long time as a weak ally. When we are in a desperate situation one day and surrounded by Quad enemies, they will remember our weak support and it will make them less motivated to stick their head out for us.

Besides, Ukraine provided Pakistan with T-80UD, tank engines and IL-78MP aircraft.
It must be fully understood by the Chinese government that Pakistan has sound defense reasons for assisting Ukraine. I am in no way suggesting China should dictate to Pakistan who it can do business with. The alliance between China and Pakistan is a two way street. However, Pakistan should try to understand the security situation for China if Russia loses the war and should ask China to compensate for the lost business and damaged defense relationship with Ukraine.

If Russia was China's ally, the Chinese would've been delivering ammo and weapons like crazy instead of Iran and LMAO, North Korea.

China is frustrated that the war is dragging on for so long and rather wants a quick end to it and from what I see, a quick end by diplomatic means.

But we are going offtopic.

We are Russia's ally but we are afraid to help in a major way because we would get crushed by joint US-EU sanctions/tariffs/tech export restrictions. Iran and North Korea are completely isolated and have nothing to lose. While our GDP is still growing by $1-2 trillion every year. We have a lot to lose. The Chinese government should be thinking of every possible way to help Russia without drawing too much attention. I believe working out a deal with Pakistan to stop shipment of artillery ammunition is one of the ways.

What do you care about this war. Rockets do not fly over you and old people and children do not die in residential buildings. Get better at developing space, advancing science and improving the lives of citizens. War has never made anyone happy. And today, every state must understand that the methods of resolving contradictions through war and killing people have no right to exist in the 21st century.

are you really Chinese ? look at your wording. crushed .. do you live in 2023 or 90's ?

i think its high time for Chinese government to change its propaganda team. you people seriously need to change your mentality and behave like a second most powerful country on planet earth.

nothing US/EU can do even if China supply weapons to Russia. you compare China with IRAN/DPRK .. insane

both EU/US technically entered in recession. Russia type sanctions are not possible. China basically runs the global economy.

Chinese must care about the war. If our largest ally loses, we are in serious trouble. I shudder to think of being surrounded by the Quad and a hostile Russia in 2024. I hope the odds of this happening are remote but we need to prepare for the worst and do our best to prevent the worst from happening. I can think of no better way to start in preventing the worst then to request the Pakistani government to stop the ammunition shipment.

That's not how this works. That's not how any of this works.

China has made clear its non-interventionist position decades ago. Its allies, Russia AND Pakistan are well aware of this.

Ukraine and Pakistan historically have also shared great relations, militarily and economically. Tanks used in the Kargil war against India were purchased from Ukraine. Russia and Pakistan also has bad blood, Russians Soviets at one point in time almost took Gwadar from them.

There's absolutely zero reasons for China to change its stance today. China respects the sovereignty of countries big or small, as it always have, to navigate their own way through geopolitical squabbles. This includes its allies. Besides, its impossible for China to involve itself in every conflict, allies or otherwise, given its status as the largest/2nd largest trade partner with most countries. You're also asking them to to set a very bad precedent for the future.

Not a quagmire they're interested in getting themselves into.
