A little fun fact I saw on wikipedia, the US once tried to sell the USS Cushing, a Spruance class destroyer to Pakistan but was refused.

Does anyone have more details of this? The Spruance was quite a beast of its time, carrying 61 VLS cells, even though it had quite dated electronics
Probably also too expensive for PN to operate such a large COGAG destroyer.

The Rafale is like at best half a generation ahead but should be so much more expensive than the J-10 it will not be worth the cost.
PAF got itself a winner here. Main features of Rafale versus it are probably the ECM/ECCM suite, towed decoy, and Meteor.
Or is that thing on J-10CA tail also towed decoy dispenser?

If we haven't ordered targeting pods for the J-10C that will confirm that it will be reserved for the Air Superiority role. I'm hoping that's the case.
If that's the case then there is a bad news too. PAF wouldn't be acquiring them in large numbers then. It would only be used to out-stick Rafales in IAF or just dominate a bit on other adversary platforms.

But I think and hope that PAF wouldn't do that. PAF usually doesn't go for a platform halfheartedly, as it would be logistically highly inefficient to keep a squadron or two of a unique fighter jet. India can afford to have a dozen types of platform types and none is utilized to it's full potential and jump from 1 toy to another toy like a kid.

1st squadron of J-10CP is going to be deployed in north facing India against their Rafales. And it's 2nd squadron is rumored to be deployed in the south, which may require J-10CP to also serve the Navy in strike missions along with the usual air superiority roles.

4:30 dude chuckled at name of Rafale when reporter asked "We hear Pakistan purchased J-10C to counter Rafale of India..." I wonder if there is stuff we dont know that he finds funny.

Also the video mentioned J-10C replaces Mirage 5, who had role of nuclear strike. It is likely J-10C could be in same role.
J-10C is ideal to replace the Mirage. It's in medium weight category, can carry heavy loads and ALCMs and has a respectable range. It would also be able to better defend itself so no more F-16s/JF-17s required to escort like they do with the Mirages. JF-17 thunder currently can't carry RAAD ALCM.

A great BVR Air superiority fighter, has potential to become a good strike fighter and would be ideal to complement the thunders and replace the tired Mirages
