Re: China Got A New Ship For Pakistan

Actually the Azmat class have a very small, shallow hull, with very little freeboard (the space above the waterline).

The space below the waterline is packed with machinery in this type of small patrol vessel.

There is a limit to how low you can place the missiles without interfering with the ship's machinery.

Also, these missiles are quite heavy - about 750 kg+ which does not even include the container/launch boxes.

8 missiles is a very heavy anti-ship punch for such a small vessel.

Also during loading and servicing, there has to be enough freeboard to keep them from getting wet in heavy seas.

A more realistic option would be some sort of extendable stealth shielding to cover the launch boxes themselves.

This boat is more of a general purpose missile patrol boat rather than a dedicated missile boat like the 022. Its hull allows it longer endurance and larger internal volume, the integrated inflatable rigid hull boat ramp gives it interdiction capabilities, once the 76mm main gun is installed as intended the ship will also gain another flexible anti ship or even fire support function.

I think people are getting little carried away with PNS Azmat and in the process forgeting for what reason it was bought

this ship is for use in Coastal Creek areas and not to be operated far away from the shores, to protect targets and engage any Indian incursions behind our lines, Karachi dockyard will be a very high value target when war comes, special forces maybe even deployed to sabotage the port, in which case this ship is vital, having stealth features is more of a indication for what it will be used for

also with its advanced ESM it will be in constant contact with all PN assets and can recieve enemy updates, in which case its 8 x C802 anti ships missiles will make for a serious threat to approaching enemy frigates and destroyers

PNS Azmat will certainly not be sent out in deep ocean to look for a Indian aircraft carrier etc

I'm glad you no longer think the F-22P has a superior CIWS compared to the 052C or 054A.

asif iqbal never said that ... what he said "even 052C and 054A don't have the CIWS arrangement .... I think he meant double arrangement "

OMG give me a break. I was willing to let this drop in the knowledge that I was obviously right and that I had made an obvious point, but apparently obvious is not so obvious to some people. Get over it, move on. Don't make me painstakingly point out the nuances of the English language in this thread to you.

KARACHI: The Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Asif Sandila, has said that Pakistan wants peace in the region and does not possess aggressive designs against any country.

He was speaking as chief guest at the launching of the second Fast Attack Craft (Missile) PNS Dehshat.

The ceremony was held on Thursday at the Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works (KSEW).

Naval Chief asserted that Pakistan’s geographical position and current dictates of geo strategic environment necessitate building of a strong navy to defend its maritime interests.

“Our sea trade routes and vast EEZ need to be guarded”, he said adding that the international energy lines as well pass very close to our coast which need to be protected not only in the interest of our country but for the entire international community as well.

Admiral Asif Sandila stated that the Pakistan Navy will continue its efforts for maintaining maritime peace and stability in the region.

He was confident that the timely delivery of the second craft in Pakistan will be accomplished successfully with full cooperation of our Chinese friends.

The Naval Chief said that he was satisfied to know about the success of the Karachi Shipyard in achieving major targets of its business plans both in shipbuilding as well as in the sugar industry.

He stated that this is yet another major step forward in achieving self reliance and augmenting export potential in the field of defence production in the maritime sector.
