Kim "... also pledged to construct more warships of "Choe Hyon class" and larger cruisers, as well as various types of escort ships, next year and also develop "nuclear-powered submarines" in the future."

Cruisers??? Escort ships??? God save SK…. It's even more threatening when you consider that this ship was completed in record time and that North Korea is very good at focusing national resources on key programs - given the nature of their state and economy.

Should we think that they can close the gap between them and the South Korean navy - even surpass it - in the near future?1745650125220.png

Can I just say this ship looks amazing. The lines, the Kashtan at the back, the ridiculous number of missiles

Aesthetically, I think I like it better than almost everything in Asia.

Also makes me feel like Chinese style CIWS in the front is ugly (though it's practical)

I'm shocked & deeply impressed by these pics. How could NK, a country has never built modern large ships, build a such nice large warship so fast?

Did China give some assistance? Some parts of the ship indeed look like their Chinese counterparts.

IMO we know too little about NK. I'm getting confused by their astonishing military progress these days.

I roughly remember China's dissatisfaction with NK's nuclear tests years ago. Then we're finding NK's fast progress in conventional military field recently. Maybe China has given some conventional military tech assistance, persuading Kim to give up frequent nuclear trials or tests.

Hacking is not enough to build ships from scratch. The only thing to hack is blueprints. But without machinery & skilled workers/engineers, you can't build a ship. I'm sure there are some parts or processes directly from outsiders. Maybe NK is just a place to assemble imported parts & do painting?
