@horse , maybe a quarter is Chinese user, wish out of patriotism they may switch but seeing the Apple effect on my family, its hard or nearly impossible.:(
Apple is all about its eco system, My brother is a huge fanboy of them and gave me his old iPhone 6s when he switched to X, for me it was a piece of shit too restrictive and the OS felt outdated but after seeing how his Macbook, Watch, iPad and iPhone are working together can't help but give them credit, it can be seriously addictive if you get spoiled by it.

Thank god I don't make as much money as him lol

I agree. Status symbol aside, there also many technical things that makes iPhones attractive.
Apple releases limited devices each year (3-4) and app developers find it easier to optimize the apps for each device. Hence you'll see that your typical app works perfectly on iPhone compared to Android.

Those who simply make calls, texts, use social media and take pics ( which are majority of users) they'll definitely buy Apple. Because these folks never use anything else and hence not notice any restrictions at all.

But for these who explore different kind of apps , love to customize and want flexibility they'll never touch Apple.

Very true. I never felt any lag using that phone, it was snappy but unlike android apple decides what's best for you whether you like it or not funny enough my brother didn't like android for the same reason for him it was "all over the place", each to his own I guess.

Another advantage of Apple is prob the customer serivice you get at the Apple store if something go wrong. You might have to pay, but you get legit service. My dad brought his computer to the "geek squad" at best buy and they at the very least will fleece you installing/selling conflicting apps like a virus scanner even when the ms windows scanner is sufficent. Prob steal your data too.

I had the i-life ecosystem once... almost every piece except the overprice magic keyboard/trackpad would self destruct after a few years and it was a very expensive and closed system that took many years to migrate out of.

Why do they even care? The US will have their AI and China will have theirs. They call it a "competition" but they actually want dominance. That's so they don't get called "evil" because evil only wants dominance. They see AI as a Skynet, a God, overseeing and controlling like the stuff of movies and they want theirs in control of China. When iPhones had problems when they first introduced facial recognition to unlock iPhones to their users, they could not tell the difference between people within another race. Some "uninitiated" aka the dumb believed that was natural because machines cannot be biased affirming their racial beliefs. They're naturally individuals while everyone is not. Everyone else cannot think for themselves and therefore they have a right to take control of everyone else's lives. That's how they programmed their facial recognition. They only think about themselves and didn't bother to input algorithms for other races and then they hide behind how machines are not biased. Read Stephen J Gould's Mismeasurement of Man. It's a book about how in history science was used to support racist beliefs and nothing has changed to this very day.

I've pointed out before how internet search engines are the beginning glimpses of what they want AI to do. Because I'm a China watcher, I do a lot of searches on China and what does my news home page look like? It's mostly news about China because I show an interest but the thing is it's only Western news and it's nearly all negative news on China. They want the uninitiated to believe everything about China is bad and that gives the West the right to takeover China because all they want is for Chinese people to be happy. Why do you think the US supported Google's fight with China and the irony is what power they wanted to have in China, they're fighting against internet companies like Google having in the US today. They say one man's hero is another man's villain. So how can everyone recognize what is universally bad or evil? It's because evil can have two contradictory thoughts at the same time. They want that power in China but's it's bad if the power exists in the US and these are their own same companies. If machines are neutral, why are they afraid of Chinese AI? All that bull when from the beginning they recognize machines are not neutral.

Yet this is an era in which a vast majority of the growth in America’s economy (gross domestic product, GDP) and all that it supports is attributable to advancements in science and technology. Indeed, we live in what is not infrequently referred to as the Age of Technology. But, astonishingly, headlines in the media make no note of this watershed event, nor has the topic been raised in presidential debates. The nation seems oblivious to the consequences of what is occurring – and what will follow.

Biden administration wants to build a "China free" high tech manufacturing chain. I suspect it's easy said than done.
