It’s normal. As I said before China is still largely overall a developing country, though the most advanced one at that . So its overall development level hasn’t yet reached developed country standards overall . So it’s normal the US will still be very attractive for global talents (not just Chinese ) far more than China or any other country for that matter . That’s probably the biggest advantage of the US. Anybody knows they can move there , get a decent paying job and become what they want as long as they have a vision and discipline to work towards that, plus work life balance isn’t as crazy as in China and east Asia( probably birth rates in your side of the world is by far the lowest globally). The US does have a lot advantages . Never underestimate the ability of the US to reinvent herself . I think many people around the world who don’t like the US tend to to project their feelings into reality and make themselves believe the US end is here. lol. Funny enough those who also don’t like China also do the same thing towards China . lol. Both are wrong, both countries have phenomenal advantages and will keep growing and being dominant for a long time to come .

A few thousand AI researchers immigrating every year still can’t make up for the fact that hundreds of millions of people at home don’t even have sixth-grade-level literacy, let alone anything beyond that.

China's only a developing country because it is actively developing, not because it is less advanced than developed nations. China's top cities are all technologically more advanced, cleaner, safer, superior to America's top cities in every way. The biggest advantages of the US are 1. it created the global finance system on the dollar after WWII so it can have a lot of resources and 2. it has lots of stupid people so anyone tired of competition can come to America to cruise to an easy life. If the dollar loses trust, and the US cannot lash out with its military against countries rejecting the dollar after China has built up its power projection capabilities, America's on one leg. The second one won't stand but will buckle because with drastically reduced ability to accumulate wealth, having loads of stupid people and being unable to attract talent with its wealth is not a working solution.

America's dormant strength is that it's a population of 330M, which does carry the depth to give them a chance to reinvent themselves instead of just collapsing into poverty. But, they'd be reinventing themselves to become a normal balanced country instead of a second wind to compete for superpower because 330M people just aren't going to put up a good fight against a population that is 3-4X larger, incredibly smart, hard-working, and STEM-oriented. Once they lose that lead and lose that lopsided system they put into place to give them all the best advantages in the world, they're not catching up unless China makes serious errors.
The most wealthy and successful community in the US are not Chinese . Using your logic Indians are more resourceful than Chinese then . lol I think people like to generalize a lot and give simple solutions to more complex issues .
Indians are resourceful in gaming the system, but not really contributing to it. The real contribution to society is science and technology. The fact that people who game the system are usually more wealthy than those contributing to it is a weakness of the American system and is testament to the emptiness of the US economy.

Traditionally, Chinese people are trained to worship STEM and knowledge. (When I was growing up, my father told me that even if I owned the world's most lavish and expensive restaurant, he'd still consider me a failure because in the end, I'd be nothing more than a fancy cook. But even if I can become a post-doc for life with some $50K salary, he can be proud that his son is a scientist who spends his life in pursuit of the most noble treasure, which is knowledge.) These groups may suck more blood out of the economy they're in enriching themselves, but Chinese people can build a great economy based on technology. That is why Indians on average earn more in the US but their homeland is nothing compared to China.
The way you frame it so simplistically, China should be the world’s leader in every single sector today.
China is advancing faster than basically anyone in any sector today despite being held back by historical mistakes leading to a very low starting point and a global system designed to keep us down.

very interesting on Dongfeng's G50 project and the orders and production line in Deyang

Dongfang's G50 received order for 20 GTs (200m per GT), 3 G50 export orders in 2025 to Kazakhstan. G50 series has accumulated > 14000 hr of operation with 90% domestic component. Takes 13m for delivery. It's also working on G15H hydrogen, G80 & G200 GT. Expects to raise G50 production in 2 yrs from 10 to 20-30. Deyang production line has 9 intelligent production line with 300 processing equipment & > 70% are digital w/ blade processing precision of 0.03mm. It has 10 active orders (5 domestic + 5 abroad with Kazakhstan and Indonesia) + the 20 new one with Canadian Data Center.

The "Taiji Project" has successfully developed a full-function interferometer optical platform.

Reporters learned on the 9th from the Institute of Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, that significant progress has been made in the development of the core measurement system for my country's space-based gravitational wave detection "Taiji Program." The research team at the institute has successfully developed the first fully functional interferometer optical platform suitable for the program and completed ground performance testing, with key indicators fully meeting mission requirements. This marks the formal transition of the "Taiji Program" interferometer system from the principle exploration stage to engineering development. The relevant research results have been published in the journal *Research*.

The "Taiji Program," proposed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, plans to deploy three satellites in space to construct a laser interferometer with an arm length of 3 million kilometers to capture extremely weak gravitational wave signals. This requires ranging accuracy at the picometer level equivalent to one hundred-thousandth the diameter of a human hair—presenting an immense technological challenge.

This breakthrough was achieved by the team at the Gravitational Wave Experiment Center of the Institute of Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The research team designed a fully functional interferometer optical platform that innovatively adopts a three-dimensional layout with "forward and reverse separation," effectively isolating the heat source from the optical path structurally, greatly improving the system's thermal stability in the space environment. Simultaneously, the platform can seamlessly interface with core payloads such as telescopes and inertial sensors, offering comprehensive functionality.

Relying on the picometer-precision laser interferometer platform at the Huairou campus of the Institute of Mechanics, the research team developed a data post-processing method to effectively reduce noise. Ultimately, the interferometer's measurement sensitivity was improved by an order of magnitude in the key frequency band, meeting the stringent distance measurement accuracy requirements of the "Taiji Program".

"This work is an important milestone in the transformation of the 'Taiji Program' interferometer system from a prototype to an engineering prototype," said Luo Ziren, the corresponding author of the paper and a researcher at the Institute of Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He added that it not only verified the technical feasibility of the full-function interferometer platform, but also provided theoretical basis and data support for subsequent work on higher-precision noise reduction.

China develops first domestic 20K rapeseed gene chip, breaking foreign monopoly

1778790490098.jpeg

China's first 20K solid-phase gene chip for Brassica napus, codenamed "Zhongxin Oil No. 1," has been officially released by the Jiangxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences in collaboration with Huazhong Agricultural University and Suzhou Lasuo Biochip Technology Co, China's Science and Technology Daily reported on Thursday. The launch breaks the nearly 20-year foreign monopoly on solid-phase gene chip technology, and this breakthrough marks the transition of China's rapeseed breeding industry's from traditional "weather-dependent" methods to a new era of precision "smart breeding," per the report.

According to the report, the solid-phase chip spotting process had long been monopolized by a handful of US companies, which maintained extremely tight technological blockades. Over six years, the Chinese research team compiled more than 1,600 experimental notebooks, wrote over 2,700 experimental reports, and collected more than 10 million scanning images. Yet the failure rate reached 99.9 pert, with 80 billion microbeads scrapped.

The turning point came in 2024 through industry-academia-research collaboration with the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Nanjing University. A group of daring young scientists - born between the 1990s and 1995s - finally turned the spotting process from blueprint to reality, giving "Zhongxin Oil No. 1" a solid foundation.

In 2025, the research team led by from the National Rapeseed Improvement Center at Huazhong Agricultural University took the lead in providing a large amount of critical gene locus information. Subsequently, Chief Scientist Hua Wei from the Oil Crops Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences also joined the effort, expanding the number of gene loci from thousands to 20,000 — nearly covering all universal research needs and creating a comprehensive "gene dictionary" for rapeseed.

To integrate this "dictionary" into the chip, the research team established a high-frequency communication mechanism with enterprise to bridge the gap between technological breakthroughs and industrial application. Officially launched in October 2025, the small chip "Zhongxin Oil No. 1" carries more than 17,000 genome-wide background markers and more than 1,500 functional loci.

"Breeding a new variety used to take up to 10 years. Now it can be shortened to as little as three years. A single test costs only 25 yuan and results are available within 72 hours," Li Shuyu, a researcher at the Jiangxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences, was quoted as saying in the report.

"Zhongxin Oil No. 1" is just the beginning. According to the report, version 2.0 is already in preparation and will contain 60,000 gene loci. Meanwhile, a product matrix covering major livestock such as pigs, chickens, cattle and sheep, as well as key crops including wheat, corn, soybeans, rice, and rapeseed, has taken shape.

Something truly impressive from HIMA/Chery launching of Luxeed V9 today. The side door anti-collision beam uses a combination of 2400 MPa and 2200 MPa hot formed steel. This is all huge jump over the current state of art 2000 MPa strength. Just incredible to see this level of improvement in China's steel industry
