very interesting, Chinese scientists from CAS has developed next generation high temperature heat pump prototype. It might fill the need for industrial heat (which is 40% of China's demand. They were able to generate heat over 270 C.

Many industrial process in petrochem, chemical, Pharma and metallurgy require 200C+ steam/heat. Existing vapor compression heat pumps struggle to operate at temperatures above 200°C, and there is a scarcity of environmentally friendly and safe working fluids

In the past decade or so, Luo Ercang's team has focused on researching thermoacoustic Stirling technology using environmentally friendly working fluids such as helium, argon, and nitrogen, developing a new generation of heat pump technology with broad application prospects

The research team summarized their work on several potentially feasible ultra-high-temperature heat pump technologies, including thermoacoustic Stirling heat pump technology, and offered suggestions and perspectives on the future development directions of key materials and technologies involved in ultra-high-temperature heat pump technology.

Next step is to achieve heat needed for petrochem, ceramics and metallurgy.
Next, the research team will focus on developing heat pump technologies for high-temperature industrial processes such as petrochemicals, metallurgy, and ceramics, which require even higher temperatures. For example, they aim to use super-high-temperature thermoacoustic heat pump technology to raise the heat source temperature from pressurized water reactor nuclear power plants (approximately 300°C) or solar trough collectors (400°C to 500°C) to between 500°C and 800°C, providing a novel technological approach for zero-carbon high-temperature heat utilization in heavy industry
