What you think if China responded they would stop? Short of going to actual war (really dumb) China will never inflict enough pain to dissuade the people pushing these bans from their desired objectives. Why waste your resources striking back when the message from these bans is that China needs to be self sufficient and independent from these relationships. When you achieve independence those strikes will no longer matter.

It is call tit for tat if they sanction Huawei China should sanction Apple kick them out ! that will send a message. As I said impression count a lot . Beside Apple stock is the main component of most 401K So you hurt where it feel. I don't understand why they curry favor with apple they don't do anything But unfortunately China is too chicken to do that because of alot of people like you defeatist and Hanjian advisor! they never learn from history

Tit for tat is not something that you can just throw around as a reflex, not if you want to actually achieve strategic outcomes anyways.

But if don't response they will keep ratcheting up the provocation and that make it war closer don't you think? Because they call china bluff
Hi Hendrik_2000,

They don't have any ammunition left but throw the kitchen sink, why give them the satisfaction. I maybe simplifying things, but retaliation sometime produce an unintended consequences and may led to a regrettable situation. China had a lot of weakness to overcome, we need time and a lot of effort to sort them all out, That should be our main focus/attention.

I don't know if this is a highly secure Chinese government use only product, which means you can't buy it as an common Chinese consumer. The company itself is a state owned member of the defense complex which makes me think this is not for laymen use.

Banning Apple would be counterproductive as they are one of the biggest voices for a stable relationship between China and the USA.
Apple only have a small share of the Chinese market anyway.

Tit for tat would be China banning Intel from supplying Chinese companies.
But at this point, such a ban would be counterproductive because there aren't good enough alternatives yet.

It will still take some time before ARM or RISC-V can replace Intel.

Remember that as the world's largest economy and trading nation, with it's own crop of emerging technology giants, it is in China's interests to maintain a single global market as much as possible.

Apple get less than 17% of their revenues from China. It's significant, but Apple would survive losing that revenue.

And what sort of bifurcated world would China prefer?

One where China has isolated itself by banning foreign companies?

Or one where China is the world's largest technology market by far, and with it's own (domestic and foreign) technology companies inside China serving a global market.

The West may be difficult to penetrate, but foreign companies will still be able to use their China base to serve these markets.
And the rest of the world is still fair game.

Apple is vastly overpriced that it assumes its current 17% share of the Chinese market is just starters, like tip of the iceberg. Their valuation assumes they have majority or leadership of the Chinese and the global market. US market is saturated, its not expected to be a growth market and may even shrink.

When you are priced for perfection, anything less than perfect would cause the stock to drop.

Simply, Chinese consumers buying less Apple product either as a boycott or preference for Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, Lenovo and others is going to domino into Apple's stock value, which in turn into the Dow Jones and S&P.

China's seventh supercomputer center passes acceptance with 100 Pflops of peak computing power-cnTechPost

On October 31, China's National Supercomputing Center in Zhengzhou successfully passed the inspection and acceptance by experts organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST).
This is the seventh national supercomputing center in China, and the first national supercomputing center approved for construction after the MOST issued the certification rules.

The center is equipped with a new generation of high-performance computers with a peak computing capacity of 100PFlops, 100PB of storage capacity, and 200Gb/s of the network system bandwidth.

It adopts the green and energy-saving immersion phase-change liquid cooling technology, with a PUE value of less than 1.04.
It has been appraised by China's TOP100 high-performance computer performance expert group that the actual sustained performance of the host system is among the best in the world.

The first batch of the National Supercomputing Center in Zhengzhou has deployed a number of key applications such as crop molecular design breeding, accurate high-performance weather forecasting, and anti-fatigue digital manufacturing of key components.
On April 19, 2019, the MOST responded to the letter approving the preparation of the National Supercomputing Zhengzhou Center in Henan Province.
On July 3, 2019, Henan Province specified Zhengzhou University as the main construction subject, undertaking construction, management, operation, and maintenance services.
