I hope it's true. The problem I see with Beijing is they can take a step forward but then they take a step back. It seems like a stupid strategy like as usual they don't too much chaos happening. Beijing will show some bluster but the when a "deadline" approaches, they sometimes will express a conciliatory gesture. You don't throw a bone to someone like Trump. He'll spin it into a victory against China. Americans see compromise as weakness and Beijing thinks their moves look civilized and reasonable, taking the high road doesn't work with these people. Americans see someone thinking they're taking the high road means they're saying Americans are not and that's an insult to them. The only time Americans will think twice is when they see how they will suffer the consequences.

Bytedance would be moronic to sell their US operations under pressure. It basically says anytime they become successful in a foreign country, that country can force them to sell their local operations.

If their CEO can't see this simple fact, then he must be drunk on Koolaid!

They have a mess because 100 million Americans who use the app isn't going to be happy about it, and you got an election coming.

A good portion of Trump's own base also use the app.

Points 1 and 5 and extremely stupid moves by the American government because that impetus created a direct competitor to US companies.

Just wait for the counter-attack when Hong Meng starts competing going head to head with Android and iOS. When Hong Meng debuts, it may already be bigger than iOS.

Then the integrated circuit companies of America. That is one industry that the US has not relinquished their technical lead. But now they have to compete with Chinese firms that were not a factor before, and they permnamently lost their market share in the biggest IC market in the world.

All this winning for China because Trump, Pompeo, Navarro are complete idiots.

We may never live to see something this stupid again. They will degrade their own industries and feel so proud. Why not? It is not their money they are blowing away. Heck, if we talk about money, all President Trump gonna say is he will get Jerome to print more of it.
