This is only a taste of the things to come before the November election.
1. My impression is that Huawei is so far ahead, it might not be caught by Ericsson. Nokia is out. The antenna is better is what I read. If they hold the patents to the better antenna, then no one is going is going to catch up soon.
2. Huawei is ahead because China and those countries rolling out 5G first, could develop a monopoly position. That is why the USA is fighting so hard, and desperately. First mover advantage in 5G goes to China and those countries who install Hauwei 5G. Then certain markets, such as the Middle East, ASEAN, Africa, South America, Huawei 5G could have a monopoly position in those markets.
3. Huawei is not just the antenna, then are into the server business. They have a total solution for the telecom network, then they got the servers in the backend to capture and analyze the increased 5G data taffic for their AI ambitions. This is one impressive company.
In short, Huawei 5G they are technically ahead, they are ahead in implementation of the psychical network, and they are ahead in market share of that industry.
Next step is for Ren Zhengfei to give the order and go crush those dirty people who stand in the way. You owe them nothng after these last two years. They even threw his daughter into a Canadian jail!

But instead of producing its own chips or patronizing Chinese chip suppliers, Huawei was happy relying on foreign countries for chips and other components and equipment for a long time.
Its a retarded reaction. Should have proactively begin long time ago.
How can China seize supply of rare Earth metals to the United States without hurting other countries and companies based in other countries that depend on US made tech?
China might just have to say, look guys, develop your own tech without any reliance on US components. We are sorry that we have to do this, but if you do not get the United States to back off on our tech companies, and instead of pointing fingers at the US for its actions, you point fingers at us, we'll take it that you are tacitly supportive of US actions and we have no just but to bring the whole tech supply system halt at is source...

That was to be expected because the Chinese bought into the globalization views lead by the Americans.
Also, the Americans were that far ahead.
But times change, and the globalized system of trade, patents, and supply chains, which were all American lead, is deemed no longer to be in the best interests of the United States.
What the world would look like next, who knows.
What China has to do is simple. One they will still promote globalization, but with China playing a key role. Two they got no choice but to de-Americanize the supply chain. Nothing personal, it is just business.

Ren Zhengfei comes across to me as too accommodating and friendly to the US, while they are ceaseless shooting, slicing, and stabbing at and towards him, trying to kill him.
