BOE said its mobile display components have gone into mass production, and the new production site in Qingdao will further meet market needs for display panels of medium and small mobile devices around the world.

The new factory is expected to attract well-known manufacturers in the industrial chain and encourage them to settle their units in Qingdao, as a new driver of the local economy and a job creator, the company said.

Making displays for Apple

Apple has always been a niche product.

The world does not revolve around a niche product.

The Macintosh use to have only 8% of the PC market, and I really do not know if they still do.

Remarkably, after the cell phone industry in China became more settled and everyone craved out their market share, there was the iPhone at 8% of the market. I have not looked lately, because there is no point to do so. When they never get more than around 8%, that is the ceiling for Apple products.

The iPhone may have a bigger market share in America, but the cell phone is a global commodity, at that probably makes the iPhone at 8% or less world wide.

No one is going build a factory like this in Qingdao for that 8%. Someone actually said that in America back in the day. Some reporter asked some boss of a big company, why don't you try to do more business with Apple. The boss replied, "If I want 8% of the market, then I would do it."

The more things change, the more things stay the same. 8%. Apple.

Apple market share ranges from 10% to 20% worldwide, depending when the new products are released.

That is true.

This is also true, that Americans like to buy iPhones.

The iPhone always sells a lot in the 4th qrt due to Christmas.

After that, the percentages drop off a lot, and when we consider that 40% is the market share of iPhones in the American market, the rest of the world the iPhone is probably around that 8%.

That is very curious to me. The Mac computer, after all this time (decades) still at 8% market share of the PC market.

If the iPhone does better in the cell phone market in the world, it is not much better.

Desktop is more like 15%, I'm actually thinking of getting the next MacBook pro that will be revealed Monday. The MacBook pro product line is mostly used by prosumer that can pay $2~3000 for their digital equipment. Right now you get best of the best with MacBook pro because apple innovated their way out of the intel trap with their Apple silicon.

Same with tablets while Android might be their with their hardware lineup they aren't there with the app ecosystem, the app ecosystem was the reason I got a iPad pro instead of a Android tablet last year for note taking and had plans to pick up digital drawing again.

I've considering a Macbook Pro too since I have numerous iPhones (most hand-me-downs from family members) but I'm kind of worried about it breaking since the M1 Macbooks have had issues with their screens cracking from normal use. This is kind of a big deal because other Apple products like

along with the fact that they've instructed their suppliers not to sell to unauthorized third parties (i.e. independent repair shops). This means that any minor issue that could be repaired for like $50-80 out of pocket could cost like $200-300 depending on what Apple wants to charge you or force everyone to get Applecare for everything.
