You have a perfect opportunity now, with Chenium's post in the CDF. Look at post #738, complete with PL-8. From nozzle to radome tip, not including probe, I get roughly 15.5meters. I am not counting the length from where the back edge of the tail fin, but from the edge of the nozzle to the tip of the radome.

Ok I did it from the picture posted by chenium and I got 15.87 meters without the prope. I counted the pixels from the PL-8 and from the plane.

How about this:
The new Chinese fighter-bomber today represents little threat to the Russian share of the fighter market. Even in China the J-10 is unlikely to compete with the license-produced Su-27 or the imported Su-30MK. However, everything about the current version of the J-10 that we have seen says that it is a transitional model. Already Chengdu is moving toward a two-engine version that would incorporate LO geometry and expanded air-to-ground capability.

, we can guestimate the J-10's size - and it's already clear that it's somewhat longer. Anyone's good at trigonometry/comp. photo analysis here?

That's an F-7MG. There are also pics of the J-10s with the FC-1 on the runaway. J-10 looks slightly longer. FC-1 length is 14.5m. I measured the J-10 according to the number of PL-8 lengths. Just over 5 PL-8s, and each PL-8 is 3m.

I also thought that it could be F-7, but looking more closely settled on Q-5. So, how long is J-10 in your estimation?

How can you mistake that as a Q-5, which has a sharp nose and swept wings, not delta? That particular plane is the F-7MG prototype. I would go for the 15.5 to 16m estimate.
