Another doom and gloom article. Very America-centric. It says China's EV makers will fail abroad because they will fail in America. I mean, I'm pretty sure the EV makers wouldn't bank on USA because USA would say Your Chinese electric vehicle is a National Security Threat. On the other hand, Europe and other regions are good places to expand, since the compact EVs that many Chinese EV manufacturers produce would suit European cities. But the article concluded that because Chinese EVs won't work well in USA, they won't be able to expand outside China. Very doom and gloom.

Even then, there are vehicles like BYD's Han and Tang with the range to travel long distances.

  • It’s all going to start with the new Tang EV. The new version of the vehicle is going into production in November 2020 and customer deliveries in Norway are expected in January next year.
  • The current version starts at 260,000 Yuan before incentives, which is the equivalent of $36,000 USD or 350,000 Norwegian Krones.
  • It is equipped with an 82.8 kWh battery pack, which they claim is good for over 300 miles (482 km) of range on a single charge.

It sounds as though they never heard of Nio, Xpeng, Li Auto, BYD, and CATL etc. I think the future of NEV belongs to China, because China has a huge domestic market, which will be at least twice the size of the U.S. auto market by 2035. China also leads the world in the field of Chemistry and Physics, and are full of entrepreneurs. I suspect the breakthrough technology in battery will come from China in the future.

Well how Western car companies do it is making deals for popular celebrities to give or borrow their best luxury/sporty models and even pay them to drive it around believing if celebrities are driving them, everyone will want them. It's brand recognition. So if these Chinese cars are outperforming their Western counterparts, that's how they get those brands out there.

I rolls back every page of this thread but not found the HiPhi X, touted to be the most luxury electric SUV on the planet. Perhaps someone can do a research and post about it here.

China needs better charging infrastructure though, even the bigger cities have insufficient charging infrastructure.

I don't know what they are talking about. BYD is already a leader in the US (of all places) in electric buses.
They might not be in automobiles but I think that is a matter of time.

They just negative campaigning because they cannot stand it that China is racing ahead towards the future.

We can actually see that sentiment surface at this forum from time to time.

First have to overcome the challenge of parking infrastructure. Most cities are hugely lacking in parking spaces let alone ones that allow for charging of EVs.

Hard to get people to go with with a EV when their apartment complex doesn’t even have enough spots to park all the residents forcing people to find street parking.
