How are Chinese EV car's reliability (specifically BYD)? I was thinking, if they ever expand globally, they should repeat Japanese car brands strategy of focusing on building good brand reputation via reliability (specifically like Toyota or Honda reliability). Don't go the route of Hyundai or Kia, which is low price at the expense of poor quality/reliability, which you can get market share, but long-term reputation isn't good.
There is just in general a lot less things to go wrong in a EV, since a electric motor is a far simpler machine than ICE. For example MG has a complete trash reputation for its ICE overseas but its EVs are quite popular and unproblematic.

If anything the one thing that might hold people off from buying is the autopilot level. We're so close to full self driving now that buying a car that is only semi-smart seems pointless.

Its the go-to brand for uber-ish drivers in mainland China for many years, which is a solid prove for its reliability and durability

The BYD taxis in Shenzhen have a 500,000km warranty, and you do see taxis with this mileage when they retire.

you can follow the channel below to see it, 100k KM is enough to evaluate reliability of a car.
