Seems xiaomi has the best brand value among Chinese car EV makers. They sure worked veey well on their marketing and branding. Seems to have paid off very well. I wont be surprised if they become the most sucessful ev company in China (along with BYD) this coming years/decade if they carry on like this.
The most surprising thing is unlike most chibese EV companies who bring out new brands every six month, Xiaomi has a longer time period of launching a new models just once a year. I think this also creates some sort exclusivity mindset and makes the brand/models more valuable in the eyes if the consumer. They are doing so well, despite not being the top player in terms of product value in china (their software lags behind the likes of huawei for example) yet they are doing better , shows the importance of branding and good marketing i guess. . Will be interesting to see how things play out in future. Guess they will soon need a 3rd factory at this rate. Lol
Xiaomi is a very polarising brand. It has a cult like following among fans, but is also hated by many

Every Xiaomi item I have purchased has been great value and solid quality, excellent price. I want a Xiaomi car, seriously.

Actually, looking back, it was only like 4 years ago I was lamenting how Chinese brands were so far behind in ICE combustion car offerings, unable to compete with Korean, Japanese, Europeans, Americans. Now fast forward 4 years, Chinese EV brands have leapfrogged to become the #1 in the world, global world class in quality, design, technology, and even price. That's just insane.

Only because you haven't seen the flames between nvidia and ati/amd fanboys...
ATI flame wars? You're dating yourself!

I find this really funny. I know in China they have that fanbase that people love to hate (like Apple or Tesla), but outside of China, they don't have that kind of rabid following. I guess they have truly earned the moniker of "Apple of China" now.

4 years ago, even Chinese EVs were behind. Think of when all the countries made their EV mandates, they thought it would be a boon to their domestic industries. Northvolt had deals for billions in subsidies in 2024 and basically went bust overnight. In the Chinese domestic market, the Cadillac Lyriq and Optiq EVs were released there first to try to capture marketshare, but lost hard. Audi Q4 cut the price by 40%, to a non-luxury price (200K RMB). Mercedes has scrapped their EV plans which was greatly focused on China because they weren't confident it would be competitive.
