Here I posted the ASP of A segment SUV and sedans. + their discount vs MSRP. just look at the hilariously large discount by legacy ICE models to be competitive. I cannot wait for Nissan to collapse.

Marelli (merged out of Calsonic Kansei [Nissan spinoff] and Magneti Marelli [Stellantis spinoff]) just declared bankruptcy in part due to plunging sales at Nissan, their biggest customer

I'm surprised in a good way that Israel has not banned Chinese EVs like the US and Canada (or quasi-banned in France, Czech, and Baltic countries).

Questions:

Does anyone know the current Chinese tariff rates in imported cars (especially EVs) from the EU? I don't recall China has significant tariffs or other protective measures against imported European cars.

Also, does anyone know why Beijing retaliated against EU's spirit/booz (especially French ones) as opposed to the Bloc's EVs and other vehicles?

Chinese car imports actually outnumber both Korean and Japanese. There is no need for protectionism.

Most of the European brands cars sold in China are made in China, that’s why.

China accounts for nearly two-thirds of global EV sales, followed by Europe at 17% of sales and the US at 7%. Emerging markets, meanwhile, are growing rapidly due to sales from Chinese automakers.
China’s annual EV sales are set to surpass total US new vehicle sales of any type in the next year.
69% of EVs sold globally in 2024 were manufactured in China
In BNEF’s modeling, adoption levels for electric commercial trucks in China reaches 46% of sales by 2030.
EVs in China alone now consuming more electricity than a country like Sweden.
EV fleet is expected to surpass the size of the ICE fleet in many countries over the coming decades. Norway is projected to reach this milestone in 2030, followed by China in 2033, California in 2037 and Germany in 2039.
