I remember someone asked which Chinese manufacturer produces electric motors. Nio is one of them: Nio's super-modern electric motor/drive system factory has a planned annual capacity of 1.3 million units.

Nice, byd is flexing it's muscle. Other automakers probably don't have the volume to justify this kind of purchases, but byd does. This works out to 60k in total delivery between the 8 carriers. If each ship can do on average a trip every 1.5 months, then that works out to 480k export a year. Still seems a little small for a carrier with byd's volume, but I think they are also planning to do assembly abroad. Maybe they will order more ships for that. It's so like byd to not rely on anyone else. Got their own ppe factory, construction company, delivery fleet, semi conductor business, battery plants and now their own shipping unit.

As for nio, good for them. The factory isn't that large. For example, byd Lancaster plant is about 5 times the size. I am also a little concerned that nio is pushing so hard into Europe when they haven't been able to get domestic production up. Still, good to see china continue to expand in Hungary, who will undoubtedly continue to support china in eu.

I see more Chinese automakers building plants in eu countries that are china friendly.

I think this setting standard for battery swap is huge news. This new international standard will be fully set by China since as far as I'm aware only China has battery swap stations.
Who knows if this is actually needed. At the rate we are going, range anxiety will no longer be an issue in another 3 years and charging time will keep improving. I would be more excited to see them promote Chinese charging standards in asean countries to help sell evs there.
