New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) in China

That's nice, but let's consider what it means in the real world. I'm assuming the Qilin battery will be 150 kWh since that's the next big thing everyone's moving toward and would support CATL's 1000km range claim. They don't mention from what to 80%, but I've seen the 10-80% standard used previously so let's take it here. That means 0.7 * 150 = 105 kWh in 5 minutes (1/12 of an hour). That's an average charging rate of 1260 kW = 1.26 MW. That's a very healthy output. The fastest DC chargers today are in the range of 300-400 kW, and that's peak rate.

A five minute charge time isn't passing the smell test for me until a new generation of DCFC stations are rolled out that can support these rates (and each station might need a small nuclear reactor beside it). A 10 minute charge time drops this power by half to a much more reasonable 630 kW - still faster than anything today but conceivable.
And that's assuming 100% energy transfer, which it won't be. You're gonna need some very high voltage charging in order to reduce heat loss to an acceptable level when you're charging at 1.26MW.

I know it not about China NEV but a good things to know about your competitors. I glad that they are struggling. I know i know i am petty person. And things trigger me is how American in comment section all jumb to defend their Made in America products. I bet if this car made in China then comment section is hell lot different.

You can always leave a spicy comment to reset the mood. But you should pretend to be a Tesla fanboy, and then proceed to watch the beautiful sight unfold

Nio is still bragging about their swap stations.
Battery swapping has a bright future on trucks and that’s the end of the story, having a swappable battery pack actually means your body has to be significantly heavier than those who uses CTB/CTC technology or your structure would be far weaker.
I think both EVs and EREVs have their place in the future, EREVs are good for people live in areas with less infrastructure or where natural disasters happen every Tuesday ,battery swapping is somewhere in between, on the one hand , you gotta have all those infrastructure, on the other hand, you don’t get all the pros as an EV.
That’s also my take on Nio, though Europeans seem to like it a lot(especially the battery swapping part), it wouldn’t do as well as expected if they constantly miss the essence of current situation.

Come on , lucid? Nah, not a player, and I think, after a good nap ,Germans would just crush them, for that price , lucid isn’t impressive at all, I think Rivian will succeed, at least in NA, it’s safe to say that lucid is basically a lost cause already

Funny video. This American guy bought a Chang Li electric mini truck for his dad and posted in previous video that went viral, as expected lots of sinophobic comments and racism , lots saying it will fall apart as soon as they use it. So he posted follow up video few months later saying the family all loved it and it was a great buy. Even had to defend himself buying Chinese truck. Lol can see lots of sinophobes were pissed.

not sure wat the market is like for Chinese electric truck like this in North America, it beats a golf cart or some similar for farm use for the price. the guy mentioned shipping cost, and custom duties added a lot to the purchase

I mean, at the end of the day, it's only 2000 dollars (although shipping, taxes etc. does make it quite a lot costlier), can't expect an actual truck (also advised as mini as well).

What's more, one of the commenters on the video puts it pretty good: "essentially a more practical golf car" and also kind of an electric version of kei trucks in Japan lol.

Which can very much be pretty darn useful.
