To be fair, what he said about FSD on Tesla is true. They really don't work that well and don't hardware to reach L4 autonomy. It seems me to me that Musk went cheap on Lidar/chips/Camera early on and is struggling to fulfill the promise of being able to provide FSD to older cars. For example, they just ordered new generation 5 mega pixel cameras which would probably overwhelm the existing chips on Tesla. So yeah, FSD on Tesla is an overhype.

Of course, what this guy doesn't realize is how far ahead of Chinese automakers are in this area and battery technology. Given that he probably lives in America, it's easy to understand his ignorance.

this kind of stuff is a problem for Tesla imo. If customers think of Tesla just as another EV maker, then it's hard for them to achieve the pricing premium over BYD Han or Xpeng P7

FengChao, battery arm of GWM, says investors are looking at newer technology now like solid state, sodium and new anode. Battery industry is certainly progressing very quickly.

This is interesting. In terms of patent, Fengchao actually leads things by quite a bit. CATL is not even in top 3.

I am not sure why the pessimism over Chinese brand in America. It will happen. Byd already has a pretty large operation here with buses. I just saw polestar about to deliver 60000 cars to hertz over the next few years. Nio confirmed again that they will export to America. The main issue is that they need to build factories here. Otherwise, there is the tariff to contend with.
Polestar is "Swedish", like Volvo. Volvo also has a newish plant in the US.
