As much as I loved the Battle at Lake Changaan the 2007 movie titled Assembly by Director Feng Xiaogang remains the top of my list. The action, the acting, cinematography the in your face brutality of the Chinese Civil War can't be overstated enough. I am not sure if this movie has been recommended here and if so pardon my ignorance.

Another one from Director Feng Xiaogang's stellar anti-war movie title "YOUTH." I feel that if he was given the reign on the movie Battle of Lake Changaan in my view the movie would have been a lot more emotional, combat and action scenes less Avenger like theme but rather would have shown the horror of that conflict and how China's accomplishment by the PVN in Korea was truly one of the ages since it would show one of the most lopsided military technological war against a largely peasant military fighting against all comers from the U.S. led UN forces.

I'll be honest, I didn't really like that movie.

It felt really weird to watch characters my parents' age act like teenagers.
