Here's my sleeper take. Give John Cho or Jung Woo Sung one run as James Bond 007. They deserve and are capable of it.

Sorry man...I say heck no to an Asian James Bond. I don't want to see an Asian man perpetuating the colonial relic and propaganda legacy of the British empire.

As for the Cowboy bebop role, they could have given it to Steven Yuen of Walking Dead fame, a fellow Korean-American just like Cho, and he's probably more popular and could have brought more fans/eye balls (subjective) to the show. How about Daniel Henney? He's maybe a half-Asian/Korean dude but he's also a pretty good looking dude that could pull some women demographic that could help the show.

For those who are interested in a really good Chinese crime drama that has good logic and direction (IMO), here's one of my all-time favorite C dramas. It's called Day & Night. Ignore the 2 there, the second season has been canceled.

I can't get over what John Cho said in a TV interview on a talk show I saw him doing. He was giving an anecdote of going to auditions and he said that he gets upset at seeing other Asians actors going for the same roles as he does like they all belonged to him. Even the host looked perplexed and said "Isn't that what actors do?" At the time, he was probably the most high profile Asian-American actor. I know Asians like that who work in "Hollywood" and other Asians on the outside see the desired exclusivity of being in "the biz" that they ask how they can get in and these Asians know that and want to be the only Asians because of the status and they spurn any questions.

I saw Cowboy Beebop. Interesting style but have no idea where the show was going. I'm not sure why the alt-right is all up in arms that Netflix already cancelled the series unless it's just a ploy to create fake outrage at Hollywood in general. All the leads are not white. Maybe it's like how they all say The Mandalorian is horrible when they just want to bash anything Disney. I love how they argue that right-wing darling Gina Carano that only showed up a couple episodes a season was the one made the show popular and people will stop watching the show because she was fired.

I remember hearing some quote from someone involved in the James Bond production saying that having James Bond be black was unlikely so an Asian James Bond especially not British has basically zero chance. Henry Golding's name has been thrown out there as the next James Bond. At least he's British. Might as well pitch someone from BTS being James Bond because at least there would be a fanbase to draw from for an audience.

Just jumping in but believe it or not I agree though for different reasons. James Bond is done. The 007 movies are today less and less connected to the Novels by Ian Fleming to the point where they are all but a complete rejection.
Every reboot since Connery has progressively walked farther and farther from the source material to the point where today it’s unrecognizable. To get to the source material though is unacceptable by modern culture. Bond’s behavior is rooted in a different culture of norms that belong to the 1940’s, 1950’s early 1960’s which would suffer a huge backlash by cancel culture. The only way to make an original Bond movie is to make a loyal to the novels. But that would first be a period piece set around a character that was designed to be unacceptable by modern times. A Chauvinist, alcoholic, Playboy, with self destructive behavior. I mean it would be a huge cultural shock as we move from a modern bond that had more in common with the Borne Identity to an actual Cold War Bond.
Otherwise it’s just rewarmed recasting of an established Bond take. Remington Steele or the Saint with a Bond Veneer. The Comedy and Camp of the Moore era, the Cold killer of the Dalton era, the Shave opulent of Brosnin, the Grit of Craig. From Sci-fi to Thriller about the only Genera Bond hasn’t been is a Horror movie or accurate to the Novels.

Thanks for the recommendation but I would like to recommend Ark Peace (2021) with Chen Kun in the leading role and Hunter actor from better days (the young cop) series are Cao Dun's most recent works and I must say that this director is top notch.
