Watch it antiterror, that baiting walks lots of roads. Many tanks are unproven these day's. Even the Type 99 of the Pla has never been blooded.

All he is posting in this case is videos of a tank. I don't read every thread or post or care to jump in on flame wars but his was an on topic post.

The Type 10 may be light weight but for a highly developed nation with well established roads the ability to traverse paved roads and hills would be a excellent feature especially if you are a defensive agency and have little contact with desert terrain.

of course ... only 44 tonnes, proven in any battles? or just for a show ;)
I would not under estimate a 44 tons tank even it is from Japan or anywhere. The power of a MBT comes from its main gun and fire control system, not its tonnage. A Chinese proverb says 骄兵必败 roughly translates as an over self-proud troop will eventually lose. The only way to win a battle is to know who you are facing to and what/how capable they are. Like Sun-zi says 知己知彼, 百战不殆 "Precise knowledge of self and precise knowledge of the threat leads to victory"

Who underestimated it? ... I said "of course" ... means because 44 tonnes the mobility naturally would be very high. But mobility is only one variable of many in combat

Anyone know of good blogs or sites that covers how the various MBTs faired against ATGMs in Syria and Iraq?

I have seen a lot of claims being thrown around on various forums, but little in the way of really credible evidence or support.

mobility firepower and protection is the normal ratio.
Type 10 has a lower weight than most modern tanks with a pretty good engine for good mobility. Top speed of 43 MPH

Main gun is the Nato Standard 120mm Smooth Bore with an Autoloader with the Japanese using their own rounds. standard 7.62mm coax and 12.7mm MG for the commander. Which is Nato standard.

Armor again in stock configuration is 44 Tonnes but it can be uparmored to 48 Tonnes. It's also smaller than most tanks 2.3M high ( same as VT4) compared to Leopard 2A6 at 3 meter or Abrams at 2.44 And The Type 10 has an active suspension that means it can get lower or taller based on want.
3.24M wide compared to VT4 3.4, Leopard 2A6 3.75 or Abrams 3.66 ( bet you did not know Abrams is smaller than Leopard 2.) and 9.5M long compared VT4 10.10, 2A6 9.97 or Abrams 9.77
the weight and size is a bonus for Japan as it can cross more of there bridges compared to the older Type 90 and far more vs the Abrams.
