“After serving eleven months in solitary prior to his sentence being imposed, and only 16 months of his sentence thereafter, it is appropriate this gentle and intelligent young man be permitted to move forward with the next stage of what undoubtedly will be a law abiding and enriching life,” Watkins said in a statement.

Isn’t that genocide? Why is no one talking about this?

Genocide can only be committed by the ‘other side’ silly. Whatever the ‘other side’ does can be classed as genocide. Rescue kids from a war zone? Genocide. Arrest terrorists? Genocide.

OTOH, actual genocide done by people ‘on our side’ can only fall into either the ‘didn’t happen’ or ‘doesn’t count’ sub category of genocide, which technically means no genocide happened.

I have another view, it was just politics. Don't forget that the entire 2022 was basically election season for Xi. He had to be very careful and have a very stable environment.

Now that he has secured his third term, gloves are off and an unrestrained Xi emerges.
Given Xi's history, I wouldn't believe for a second that Xi was naive enough, in 2023, to still believe in that "whole world is big enough for both of us"

My supporting evidence is that since he has secured his third term, he has been going full throttle antI-US moves

This is why everyone and their mother are going to Beijing. China will now start actively resisting Western hegemony. Its like that Asian kid in the school, getting bullied all the time and saying nothing. Now that it starts fighting back and punching its bullies, everyone is going back to him saying "what's up bro, just a prank! Don't take it serious, we never meant it bro".
Joke is on them, i predict that this kiddo is now also going to start grabbing some guns and loading ammo.

The West better be careful, their economies are in very dangerous position and if China decided to do so, it could easily kick them down while they are weak
President Xi is as pro American as they can get. Ofc he's not a bootlicker like Von der Leyen or an imbecile like Baerbok, but Xi's brand of pro Americanism means advocating for joint leadership, that is, inherent acknowledgement of American "right to lead". Xi once spent major time in America and also allowed his daughter to do it, he is a dove on America, advocating for the "G2" politics, which are akin to marriage with the enemy.

But he is also a very competent leader, so one can absolutely not characterise him solely due to being soft against US. He sees through the most toxic elements inside current US regime and deeply understands how to deal with them, he also knows that domestically, he cannot be too friendly on America. Ultimately to Xi, his role in advancing domestic politics and China's UN duties supercedes his friendliness to America, so while he might soften the blows against Washington, he will still dish out the bare minimum of necessary moves to safeguard the international situation.

Xi and the few others that have the exact same views as him are likely one of the last friends of America that exist in China. Those were the final wave of politicians where the people can accept that they have foreign connections.

Once they're gone, policy will change from defending status quo to threat elimination.

Splitting alibaba into 6 companies, is like splitting amazon into a couple of companies, reducing their competitiveness, efficiency and discouraging them from investing into new ventures, both within and outside of their companies. Sooner or later the government will split byd and catl for being too "dominant" in their industries.
More companies = more competition, this is business economics 101. Any monopoly is bad for competition.

South Korea's chaebols and Japan's keiretsu are doing wonders for their countries' economies?

Another cope article by the Chinese lib Minxin Pei, just read for laughs. He obviously has zero knowledge in both semiconductors and football since he got the typical Chinese lib degrees - English & Political Science - so it is mostly just word salad for the consumption of Western audience. I guess that's the typical career pathway for low quality degree graduates of Chinese descent in the West - yellow face propaganda mouthpieces so that their masters don't get called 'racist'. Surprisingly, the few comments under the article are pretty based.

Psycho Senator Marco Rubio laments the fact that countries are dropping the dollar and doing trade in their own currencies, because then the US wouldn't be able to sanction them. These psychos genuinely believe it's their god given right to impoverish anyone not bending to their will.

"Brazil and China cut a trade deal going right around the dollar…in 5 years we won’t have the ability to sanction them" - Senator Marco Rubio.

Citing Brazil’s deal with China to settle trade in yuan and reals, the US is worried about a de-dollarised world because it’s ability to impose country-breaking punishing sanctions on nations which don’t follow US orders is diminished.
