Is the CSTO article about to be triggered?

Some Armenian protestors trying to break open the gates to Parliament.
I really don't see how it couldn't be triggered. The attacks took place on Armenian territory, and killed have killed 100+ Armenian soldiers.

It'll be interesting to see the mental gymastics being pulled by the west on how what Azerbaijan is doing is ok.

US is definitely trying to rope China into war. Well, US provoked the Ukraine crisis and raised interest rates to de-industrialize and hollow out EU so that capital and manufacturing go back to US. Guess what actually happened? They went to China instead. Now you tell me US isn't pissed. So now it's going to provoke China into a war so that global capital could actually go back to US. They tried to do that with Polosi visit despite warning from US military, but it ended up strengthening China's position in the strait.

It seems that US elites recognized the inevitability that China will surpass them, and is gambling that WW3 and human extinction is less likely than a weak US maintaining its hegemony. I think in the short term China might be in a bit of a pickle. If it retaliates by sending arms to Russia, it might piss off EU and redirect European capital back to US, which is what US wanted.

Go the Taoist route.

Do nothing.

Doing nothing in this case, is actually doing something. Just let them cannibalize themselves.

Actually, China is doing something, something real. Just that, it does not involve the West much at all.

China is full steam ahead with globalization still with the Global South. While the West is stuck with the dancing Russian bear.

I saw some (unknown affiliation) accounts on Twitter say that the CSTO article was vetoed. Seems like fake news imo.

As far as I see it they would try for war in some form but they're also wary of taking direct conflicts.

No matter how US itself wants to spin it, China has escalation advantages in both Europe and Asia front. The only place they have higher initiative is South America.

Say whatever you want about Russian ineffeciency, culture of complacency etc. dragging out the war. 1 Russia alone that didn't use most of its own troops is still winning while the EU emptied its stockpiles into Ukraine and used all economical means.

Before the Ukraine war, it was believed that US had the escalation potential in Europe, but now the NATO economies and armies proved to be inflated.

If US overly invests into Europe front, China needs only to form a drone/ISR/artillery PVA that stays in the Russian rear to roll over the AFU no matter how much US tries to bolster it.

And some western copers think that China won't do this if it is advantageous to do, coping until the last that the Chinese government will do massive completely unforced errors and let the west fight Russia alone. The planners in Zhongnanhai are not stupid, the only scenario where Russia will be allowed to lose is if China could severely harvest Russia afterwards, where China judges that the increased control over Russia is worth temporarily reduced Russian power.

On the Asia front, if US wants to sling guns they can just invade Taiwan. The separatists are willing and ready. US isn't invading because doing so is too risky. There is only 1 possible way to invade Taiwan = full mobilisation and general draft. A SMO with 200 000 US troops and 2 CVBG will never cut it, trying so means a guaranteed humiliation and losing the rebel forces. But losing a war if US fully mobilized and drafted will mean the end of America as an unified country.

Therefore US is mainly trying to feel out what the borders are they can get away with without causing a direct war, because almost all war options are high risk and bad odds.
Considering now Ukraine is being fast tracked into NATO as of now, things will escalate very fast. Let’s see if Russia is willing to burn fire and brimstone for this escalation and actually make good on their threats and actually cause some real damage for once because at this time, the west seems to assume they can keep on raising the stakes forever without real consequences. The west honestly thinks that the heavens are on there side for being the world to WW3 but then again, they did get away with this before against weaker nations and in the event that Ukraine gets what they want, I believe we will soon see if Russia is finally willing to do some serious damage and simply escalate this from a special military operation to a actual war instead and to finally give the USA a taste of their own medicine. On the upside from this scenario, we might finally get to see Zelensky finally get to see some real consequences for this actions because he really does seem to be riding the moon thus far

Recent Russian setbacks will only serve to embolden them.
It is not Russian setbacks but China lack of firmness on this and other issues that embolden them.
Trump may not come in power but Saudi want show to the rest of the world that they care about the people who had shown decisive leadership.

This Ukraine war is conducted taking into account interests of OPEC+ . It is Arab wealth that played role in winning the previous cold war but received all the blowback. once West is more depended on Arabs after this Ukraine war than the payback will start.

India invitation list does not give much importance to fellow SCO members that not in G20.

Why is Intel’s GPU program having problems?

Sep 2, 2022 by Charlie Demerjian
...
In this case Intel is literally developing the DG2 drivers all over the world as they do for many things, hardware and software. The problem this time is that key parts of the drivers for this GPU, specifically the shader compiler and related key performance pieces, were being done by the team in Russia. On February 24, Russia invaded Ukraine and the west put some rather stiff sanctions on the aggressor and essentially cut off the ability to do business in the country.
Even if businesses decided to stick with Russia, it would have been nearly impossible to pay the wages of their workers due to sanctions on financial institutions and related uses of foreign currencies. In short Intel had a key development team cut off almost overnight with no warning.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen says the European Union must show "resolve, not appeasement" as it deal with Russia over its war with Ukraine.

Speaking at her annual state-of-the-union speech on September 14 in Strasbourg, France, von der Leyen said the bloc's solidarity with Ukraine was "unshakeable," and must remain that way.

"I want to make it very clear, the sanctions are here to stay. This is the time for us to show resolve, not appeasement," von der Leyen said.

Von der Leyen accused Moscow of manipulating Europe's energy markets to the point where they are no longer properly functioning anymore.

Some critics have pointed to a huge spike in energy prices and intermittent cuts to supplies as a sign that the sanctions on Moscow are causing more damage at home than in Russia.

But von der Leyen said Russia's financial sector was on "life support," while its industries and military were being crippled by an exodus of international companies in response to the war.

"The Russian military is taking chips from dishwashers and refrigerators to fix their military hardware, because they ran out of semiconductors. Russia's industry is in tatters," she said.

Please do not post US propaganda mouthpieces "news" like Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty or Radio Free Asia in here.

That talk about using chips from dishwashers and refrigerators sounds like BS. You can easily buy second source chips from China or Vietnam for pennies on the dollar. The fact is a lot of electronics used to go to China for recycling, today they go to Vietnam, and chips get pulled out and might be re-sold. Anyone can buy these. And US sanctions won't be able to cover these second sourced chips. That quip is just a wild simplification of how second sourcing chips today works. But I have seen no evidence such second sourced chips are being used in Russian weapons systems. They either use their own Russian chips, or chips so commonly available in the gray market they cannot be sanctioned easily. That is the US's problem as they thought they could easily sanction the Russian military industry semiconductor supply and so far they failed.

Russia's MIC has been under sanctions since 2014 and this conflict changed nothing for them basically. The impact is on the civilian sector.

This is today's speech by Ursula von der Leyen in Strasbourg. Her speech was broadcast all over Europe and she really said this nonsense about dishwasher and washing machine chips.

Here is Reuters quoting her:
