Why should China enter Afghanistan in the first place. China just wants to do business and maintain border security.

Another gem from the best China analyst of all time, Gordon Chang with yet another fail China article. I wish I could have his job because no matter how many times the man has been proving wrong with respect to his specious analysis he seems to still get some Washington bucks for his yet another delusional happy talk about the American relative advantage and China's impending or at moments notice demise.

I've gotten some PMs and wonder is everyone else is being PM bombed with typical Tidalwave messaging. Pardon to the newbies but I'm at a point where anyone new to this forum... I think to myself if this might be another Tidalwave alias? I don't know why someone would waste so much time thinking they can just change their name and somehow people will change their minds on what's already been rejected and got them banned in the first place. Maybe he's attempting peer pressure thinking a gang up will work at turning people...

I didn't read the article because I really don't care what NYT has to say about China.

I just want to say that welfare of not the solution to social inequality. On the contrary, welfare perpetuates inequality.

Under Xi Jinping, China has tackled and is still tackling three major issues, all of which were caused by the proliferation of Capitalism in the past 30 years.

First, corruption. This is Xi's first and most successful campaign to date, and paves the way for China to tackle the other two issues.

Second is environmental degradation. Tackling this issue means tightening up environmental regulations, which requires officials who are resistant to corruption. This is the first step toward reducing social inequality by giving back to people their health.

The third issue is social inequality. China's first success is the elimination of absolute poverty. We are also seeing stronger oversight of large Chinese corporations as demonstrated by Ant Financial and Didi. We will continue to see a series of such measures designed to curb the power of Chinese capitalists and protect the interests of the people.

In many ways, the curbing of capitalist influences in China would not have been possible without the hostility of the US. This hostility has two effects: first, it severely restricted business opportunities of Chinese corporations in the West, thereby making them much more reliant on the good will of the domestic market. Second, it created a sense of common purpose among the Chinese populace and any perceived attack on or betrayal of Chinese national interests are now seen as intolerable. Chinese consumers can and will exercise collective power to punish businesses that attempt to profit at the expense of the nation.
A nation can't have functional modern society without safety net. I don't advocate for welfare state. However, universal health care, food nutrition programs for children and elderly, and social security are a few esssential benefits that should be available for a developed country. The issue right now is the income inequality between the urban and rural. Many rural farmers and labors just don't have the same accessed to the many safety net enjoy by the urban workers. The Chinese central government is trying to dismantle some of these barriers and give access to these benefits to the rural farmers and labors but it is not enough.

As for those youngsters, the housing price is their biggest barrier to live a better life. Hokou is another obstacle they are forced to overcome. Another thing is the Chinese government needs to rein in overtime especially those overtime that doesn't pay you anything. I think for the next decade the Chinese government needs to tackle these three issues so these youngsters can have a better work and life balance.

Again, should a war happen, australia is going to taste the kind of defeat that will resound throughout history as something that is quite frankly avoidable but due to pure stupidity, they went for it anyway like a brain dead bogan. But if this finally destroys Australia’s ability to wage war forever and helps to ensure that the dreams of a Anglo Saxon resurgence remain dead for all time. I can’t wait for China to finally take the gloves off and finally should the world just what happens if you anger the dragon one time too many

They -should- fear China. They’ll never like the chinese, so it’s better to be feared rather than be bullied.

Taliban spokesmen said they see China as a friend to Afghanistan, would welcome Chinese investors and works and guarantee their safety if they return. They also no longer allow Uyghur separatist fighters among their rank.

I hope that's true and then China should invest because it would be a huge blow to the West's way of doing of things.

Well for basically sucking the d&@k of the USA and basically sacrificing what little morals they have for the USA, well they have better pay China more respect for continuously lying about China or else they will get slaughtered for their stupidity. For the 5eyes past in regards to colonialism and basically acting as though they are innocent, it is high time that the world gets to return the favor with interest
